Maison Margiela Tabi boot question...

Hi- I was wondering if anyone has the Maison Margiela Tabi boot? I haven't seen them in person but I love the look! I'm just not sure what size I should order .? Do they run true to size, or need to go up a half size? I am US 7.5 and wondering if I should do a 37.5 or 38. The leather looks amazing. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!
I’m also usually 7.5 and I always get size 38 Tabi’s. It makes it easier to wear socks if I want; also my feet are on the wider side.

For Newbies and Seasoned Collectors: Share Your Tips and Experiences in Curating Your VCA Collection

Dear Friends, please allow me to ask my question here. I have a pretty broad VCA collection. Primarily Alhambra. And I love each piece of it. I need to admit, I had to sell some of the items in order to avoid duplicating in stone, e.g. I sold vintage earrings in Malachite and Carnelian as I was lucky to find Magic size.
Now as I got Magic one motif earrings and 3-motif WMOP, Onyx, GMOP, I am thinking about either 10motif or 20motif onyx.
Question: would you consider 10 motif onyx as too basic?
Is onyx in general a more “basic” stone for you.
Please, I don’t want to offend anyone, I am just very cautious with my purchases.
Appreciate all wisdom of this chat members thank you!
You have received such great advice already here @Umniza15 I agree with @missie1 that there’s nothing ‘basic’ about VCA stones and also @880 that basic is not a bad thing and open to interpretation. Onyx 10-motif would look so beautiful especially paired with your new magic onyx earrings 🖤
You need to teach a master class on building out a cohesive collection. The way you anchor everything and it stills allows for versatility is pure perfection. The WG might be my favorite because those yummy emeralds are just amazing in color and give such a wow factor. Now I tend to build out stacks and fall into achoring pieces around my tennis bracelets and my perlees. I still find myself wanting to add another sweet perlee in wg as this seems to be my favorite size in Perlee. Also I tend to build out metal combinations in sets. I struggle with making decisions to add other pieces that I like but don’t think will necessarily get great cpw. Another struggle is that when I’m undecided like with the butterflies I stop and purchase nothing because I get overwhelmed and not sure what direction to take.
You are way too kind my friend @missie1
You know how much these emerald pieces mean to me and how crazy I am about them 💚
I am fully in favor of you adding sweet WG perlee. You already own a sweet perlee and know it works for you so this piece will work in your collection.

Pausing a purchase because you are unsure is the smartest decision ever!
I love how people do this, building around an anchor piece. I kinda tried with my single row perlee bangle but I just don’t wear it enough. It’s the pieces that I wear the most that have become my anchor pieces, which are my sweet pave six motif, my clover ring and my low key pave earrings. I’m so boring. I wear them everyday and don’t stack usually.
I absolutely love your anchor pieces @EpiFanatic
That’s another great way to describe what makes for an anchor piece - pieces you reach out for and wear every day
You are NOT boring, you are as classic as they come ❤️

Help me decide (VCA or Cartier)

My advice: make sure it will not bother you to wear a chain bracelet with your bangles. It seems that people fall pretty strongly into one of two camps with this—either they are totally fine mixing chains and bangles or it drives them bananas. It doesn’t bother me but you have to be ok with the chain spending some time under the hard bracelets.

As for which of the two: do you want to leave it on 24/7 or remove? I would not wear any VCA stone in the shower, including onyx.

First Time Van Cleef & Arpels buyer

Thoughts on whether a 20 motif or 2 10 motifs of the same stone is a better purchase? I really want a 20 motif but have 2 daughters so thinking 2 of the same 10 motifs will accomplish both the desire for a 20
Motif and have one necklace for
Go with your instinct. If it is important to you to ultimately give these necklaces to your daughters I think 2 10 motifs would be a wonderful way to go about it.

Modern, flimsy but chic Bottega - torn on parachute but I loved green padded cassette

I own 4 Bottega and well. My padded green is amazing. My go to. Is there any place I can find another one with such a pop of colour? Like violet one?
I have two Sardines which are weirdly shaped, are too pale. I knew buying this. Arco in nice violet, deep one but.. I want a bag. Was scared of Adiamo - the yellow looked terrible on me and washed me out - the words of SA. I like parachute but feel like I feel too "mid" about this. Is it possible to get padded cassette in optimistic colour (I know the iconic colour is the best)? Jodie seems impractical. If not - could you recommend me a bag for.. a young person. I only see a very light blue almost arctic. (I gave my mum Sardine which is telling.) If it's helpful I can post pics when I'm wearing 3 at once at shop :)

Triple Drop Earrings in Yellow Gold

Agreed. I wanted a bit modern but this looks ordinary. Do you have any ideas for something unique yet very everyday? I have plenty of issues with the Pharell line and so on that it looks mall like. (not to mention it's relatively cheap but that's gold, not even a touch of something else to make it more interesting or.. Tiffany)
I think that you should choose things that speak to you and not necessarily what is the consensus of others. There will always be people that like or dislike a piece of jewelry or brand. All of them have beautiful designs. I have had negative and positive experiences with many jewelry brands so I would focus on developing a relationship with someone that you feel comfortable with and understands your aesthetic. They may find pieces that you are unaware of that may suit you better than what you find on your own. Don't feel obligated to purchase anything that you are not comfortable with and if you are unsure about a purchase, wait a while and think about it over a week or month depending upon the cost. If it is something that you still obsess about and that you will wear often, go ahead and get it. You will be the one who loves and wears it. I know jewelry can be costly and we all want to minimize mistakes but we all have different tastes. Sorry about the long response

Is anyone else a fashion lover concerned about environmental impacts of the industry?

It's not about the market or industry segmentation it's about marketing.

People got wise to green-washing, false claims and using 'feel-good' words that have no legal definitions like 'vegan', 'eco-friendly' 'ecological' 'bio' etc. I literally see people go on about the leather industry, fur, dairy when asked about sustainability wearing head to toe pleather, synthetic fibre padding, nylon (polyamides) and elastane (known more in Europe as lycra®).

There is a good reason why people have always preferred natural fabrics, and it had nothing to do with sustainability. It just happens that pre-loved natural anything is more serviceable and feels better than overstretched polyamides, blistered PVCs and shiny acrylics.

Now we have future-washing.

Wanna sell non-sustainable cr*p clothes that pollute the planet and make people think they're so 'now'? - Call them 'technical' as in technical fabrics, technical clothes, technical apparel.

For future reading of 'future-forward' 'technical' anything, I always see "We have no idea of what's in this fabric and wouldn't want to tell you anyway."
I’m just here to say, I’m with you. Applause

Florentine grainy vs smooth

Hmm very good analyzation here. I believe that maybe i will limit my purchase to the ones i believe are drum dyed. I might just stick to getting another toggle in the black. And the ecru might be an exception because it really is a beautiful cool white. Anywho, i was reading about hides and the best area of the hide is the back where the leather is very smooth and consistent so those Florentine bags that are smooth - more than likely are from the best part of the hide. As the pebbles increase or become less consistent is when it’s another cheaper parts of the hide. So i hope the next florentine is smooth, but i still love love LOVE my grained chestnut toggle. I saw the sorrento line- it’s full grain but didn’t see mention of vegetable dye. I feel like right now I’m on a quest to collect vegetable tanned full grain leathers. Hopefully i can go to a store one of these days and select a couple florentines in person. Although dooney has been very prompt with all my returns and there’s been a bunch bc i made a big order and it all arrived separately, so i guess i can always order online. Everything was refunded quickly. I still like the pebble grain for a more refined look when maybe I’m dressed a little more polished than my casual outfits lol so do you use that spray on your dark florentine to prevent watermarks?
No, I've never used any kind of water repellant on any of my handbags. I sometimes condition my leather bags (using Apple brand conditioner) if they need it. But I don't
usually do that until the bags are a few years old. I've only had an issue on one bag...
a red Florentine, where the color came off onto the cloth when I applied the conditioner.
The bag was not damaged, but I stopped the process. I'm just cautious about
messing with the leather since we don't know how the conditioners, etc. will interact
with the dye. And Dooney does not recommend any conditioners or treatments... so if there is a problem, it's your problem to live with. I've seen some Florentine bags on
the resale market where the color is mottled or faded. I always wonder how those
bags were treated and stored.

Does prada have sale on rtw now?

They are having their friends and family weeklong sale now in NYC by invite only and they had a lot of rtw, which were pretty deeply discounted. Some stuff was 85% off retail, it’s just a matter of finding things in yuu ok r size.
Ugh I missed this! I really wanted to buy the RTW dresses which is $8k-ish. I asked sales in madison store when I purchased full priced dress last week and they said no sales anymore. I wonder how much I need to spend to be friends and family ;)
