My Chanel bag has white stuff on the leather. I’ve purchased it back in 2011 and only used few times after that it was just in the storage. The bag is in perfect condition except the issue with the leather. Please see the photos.

Can someone please tell me what is this white stuff on the leather? Is it mold? Is there any way I can get rid of it or do I need to take it to the Chanel store for repair? Will it be too expensive to get it fixed? I’m in Sydney, Australia.

Dear TPFers! I have been offered today this beautiful bag, capicines BB in ostrich leather, colour tan/cognac. The bag is beautiful and this will in so case be my second ostrich. I owe already one in menthe green, which I do use a bit.
Do you think it’s crazy to have two similar models but different colours. The price is 92.000 NOK, which is around 8000 USD.
The bag is gorgeous and will quite suite my colourings. TIA

She is definitely polarizing and whimsical. If you are uncomfortable with asymmetry then she is not for you. But I absolutely love her and it was love at first sight.

Hi everyone, I wanted to understand what exactly people mean when they say their MOP lost its luster due to wear and tear like wearing in the shower.

I got a new MOP bracelet recently and when I compare it to a sweet MOP pendant I got years ago, it seems like the new piece has a glass-like shine that’s missing from my pendant. The pendant still has a pearlescent, holographic look and when I move it in the light I see different colors…. but it looks a bit more matte than glass-like shine. Is this glass-like shine “luster?”

If I didn’t have a comparison, I wouldn’t think anything was “wrong” with my pendant because it still looks pearlescent and pretty but you can tell the difference in gloss with a direct comparison. I can see why some people say they shower and wear theirs daily without any wear and tear whereas other say they lost luster. You really need a direct comparison or to know MOP very well to see the difference.

I'm looking for some help in updating my H wishlist as my bag collection has grown quite rapidly and I am looking to curate. I have attached some info about my preferences, my tentative H bag wishlist, as well as my current collection of bags (H and non H). About me:
My preferred method of carry is crossbody/shoulder with medium+ capacity. I enjoy being hands-free and don't really like holding a bag in the crook of my arm. I don't like lots of flashy hardware. I like black and neutral color bags except white/cream. I usually wear clothes in black/white/gray/navy to light blues/camel/oatmeal. I wear predominantly RG jewelry, but I don't mind mixing metals. My fashion style is 90% casual (jeans + T-shirt + sneakers) and 10% preppy/academia aesthetic. My life is very casual, I very rarely need to attend black/white tie events. I don't baby my bags and I am not in the market for an exotic bag right now as it doesn't fit my lifestyle (maybe in 10-20 years). I don't like having to play tetris to fit things into my bags. Sometimes I will go without a bag if I am wearing a coat with deep enough pockets! I like being care-free, and I am not bothered about scratches on bags. I don't decorate my bags with twillies/charms.

I have a vintage, coated-canvas, GG purse from sometime in the 1980's .
It's on life support at this point, so I decided to try to put my lifetime of sewing skills to work and try to restore it.
So, I'm trying to source some good quality, fabric for repairs.

Any suggestions that will help?

I picked up this Pisces pendant (on 70cm trace chain) recently, and I absolutely love it. It’s another solid, care-free option to add to the rotation.

Pictured with a few different chains:

1. The longer chain that comes with the 1 motif magic pendants, doubled

2. A 20” non-VCA chain that I liked the idea of, but I think it bothers me that the chain isn’t shiny and doesn’t feel sturdy. Plus the yellow color doesn’t completely match the pendant color. It’s 14K hollowed gold.

3. The 70cm trace chain, fastened on the jump ring

I think all these options are good, for different occasions / outfits.

The trace chain is kind of an awkward length for me. It works when I wear higher neck shirts, as pictured. But with a lower-cut top, the pendant sits right inside my cleavage, which isn’t a good look haha

I really love the chain though, so I’m seriously considering purchasing a second trace chain, and having a jeweler shorten to 20”, so then I can also have the option to wear it shorter, on a VCA chain.

has anyone experienced issues related to UV lamp usage, or can you share scientific studies or personal anecdotes about their risks ?

Hi everyone, in the past I’ve had the best advise on this forum and I’m hoping there might be an angel out there who might be able to help, I brought my classic gray from 2020 I out yesterday. I think I’ve worn it 10 times in total. I noticed once I stepped out in day light that it has became discoloured on the pocket and sides. I only wear nude palette clothes so this is so bizzare. It almost looks like it’s the grained caviar that has absorbed something, does anyone has any idea what this is or what I can do?????

I love them both! I’m just having a hard time choosing between the two. I currently have the YG Vintage Alhambra pave pendant, but I’m trying to phase out of YG and wear metals that suit my skin tone a bit more. I also have the RG pink sapphire two butterfly pendant, but to me it’s a very different piece when compared to the VA. I’m thinking about adding some bracelets/bangles to my collection in the future, which are likely to be rose gold, maybe with some white gold mixed in. Though I typically like to style my jewelry a bit more cohesively/uniform, I’m liking both WG and RG lately. I’m thinking of picking one pendant for now as a starting point and seeing how it goes Overall the RG seems easier to match with things and has a beautiful contrast with the diamonds, whereas the white gold has a beautiful bright quality and really pops. Thoughts??

So I did something really crazy 2 weeks ago and bought a WHITE Michael Kors bag and wallet. The purse is leather so im not really worried to much about the purse but then wallet? That's where I went a little crazy and should've know better. The wallet is canvas and sure enough I just of had something on my hands and it transferred to the wallet. I ALWAYS take very good care of my purses so this is got me panicking about little. Well alot. I know someone said oxy clean and get it in liquid form? I've not see it and was wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

Someone that I have followed on IG for years recently shared that her Blue Agate Bracelet oxidized. She knows it is not a humidity issue for her, and asked if others had the same experience.
I should add, her BA was in perfect condition and she owns other Alhambra pieces that are still normal.

She shared her responses from followers, with many clients sharing photos of their YG and RG Alhambra tarnishing. Some stated that VCA will clean it, only for it to happen again.

Someone shared a photo of two Frivole pieces (either YG or RG) that completely oxidized as well .

Of course I naturally ran to check my collection, and everything is normal for me.

My question is, has anyone here seen their VCA pieces oxidize? If this were to happen to you, would you still purchase from them?

VCA holds themselves to a high standard, so I was shocked to see so many clients shared the same experience as this woman.

There are some things I'd like to buy, four currently but I don't want to purchase them until December. I really only want three for right now and would like to buy the last item until the new years February (if there isn't a price increase).

That being said the items are
1. Chanel flap cardholder with silver hardware (doesn't matter the color, I want one with silver hardware)
2. Chanel sneakers (white and black)
3. Chanel passport holder (black with gold hardware)

I'd like to call upon your collective wisdom to help me decide which to purchase first: the Frivole earrings or BTF ring, both pave and in white gold - photos attached.

I'm a point with my collection where I feel at 'jewelry peace' (just don't tell DH that 😉). I have my daily pieces that I love dearly and enjoy. I'm one of those people who don't believe in saving nice things for 'special' occasions - everyday is special! So now I've turned my mind to these truly remarkable pave pieces. I come from a humble background, and I never though that these would be within my reach. But I worked hard and many, many years later, here we are. And who knows, maybe tomorrow will bring something different and these pieces will fall to the wayside! But for now, it's fun to save and dream 🥰.

For a little background information - I'm typically a ring person. However, lately I've been finding myself in situations where I'm thinking that these Frivole pave earrings would complete the occasion. In my mind, I would be able to wear the earrings both casually and formally; the ring, however, I would likely save for formal occasions. So I would likely get more wear out of the earrings while I'm saving up again for the ring (which would be at least a few years), but since rings are my first love, I wonder if I will regret not getting the ring first.

Hi, I’m on the hunt for a trendy cc bag. I’ve noticed a great price difference if the bag had been airbrushed or repainted , is it bad to purchase under these conditions ? I’ve noticed fashionphile and rebag grades these bags harshly . Thanks for your insight .

I just purchased this NWT collegiate (Baylor) Dooney & Burke off Ebay. When I received it it was unzipped, and when I try to zip it up, the zipper is very hard to move. It's not a lubrication issue but rather the zipper is sort of rippled (see photo) so while it will zip up, you have line it up just right.

Looking for advice -- the seller is willing to refund my money if I will pay to ship it back. Since I paid the shipping to get it here (about $10), assuming it's the same to ship it back, I'll be down about $20 once she refunds the purchase price ($90). She'll also be out about $20 since she told me her eBay payout was $77. She volunteered this, by the way, I didn't ask for a refund, so I believe she's an honest seller who wants me to be happy with my purchase.

My other option would be to register the bag with Dooney and see if they can posslbly do some kind of repair -- replace the zipper maybe? Although it's new with tags, I suspect it's an older style, since I hadn't found any place to purchase it new, and I wonder if their guarantee/warranty will apply.

Has anyone had any experience with getting their Dooney repaired? I'm trying to decide whether to cut my losses and return it, or keep it and try to make it work. It is the perfect size for work (laptop even fits) and yes, I work at Baylor!
