Has anyone found Chanel costume earrings to be painful and heavy?

Good evening everyone, I went to three different Chanel boutiques with the hopes of purchasing an item (ultimately I tried one on that I thought of buying).

When trying them on in Bergdorf Goodman, my ears immediately turned pink and felt heavy and it itched a bit.

It was sad as I thought I’d be able to wing a pair of Chanel earrings but it looks like I’ll just have to stick with real gold and fine jewelry.

Has anyone else experienced this? Myself in the picture trying on the earrings in BG. You can see how it’s heavy and my ears are a bit pink.IMG_5585.jpeg

Below is the style from the website IMG_5589.jpeg

Which ring?

Trying on some pieces the other day… I’m looking for a new pinky ring although the bracelet is also stunning! Which ring looks best? Please excuse the plaster on my finger.

Ballon Bleu 28mm or 33mm?

Hi all! I’m trying to decide between Ballon Bleu 28mm or 33mm.

My wrist is pretty small at 5.5 inches (14cm), 5’5” tall, weigh 125lbs, and usually wear a US size 4. I’m almost 30 years old, and my wardrobe consists of a wide range of styles, from casual to formal to feminine.

This would be my only nice watch, so I want it to be versatile, classic, but also age well since I plan to wear this watch for a long time!

While I actually think 28mm looks better sizing wise, I can’t help but feel that the sunray dial / guilloche details on 33mm are what really makes the watch pop.

The first two photos are 33mm and the last two are 28mm. Can you please tell me which one fits me better?? Thank you in advance!

Has anyone found out that they purchased a counterfeit from Neiman Marcus VCA?

I bought myself an onyx Alhambra necklace from VCA in Neiman Marcus in Dallas Northpark years ago. Apparently, it was not a true VCA boutique within Neiman but had Neiman Marcus employees. When I purchased it, they told me they had a special order onyx that had the chain lengthened. Apparently the person who special ordered it decided against it. I liked the idea of it being a little longer so I purchased that one. Since then I've purchased many more VCA items (mostly from VCA boutiques.) I brought my onyx necklace in to the boutique to be sent off to have it shortened slightly. It came back unchanged with a letter that stated it was a counterfeit necklace and it should be destroyed. Apparently, it was not a true VCA boutique within Neiman but had Neiman Marcus employees. This was probably at least 14 years ago. I need to go to my safety deposit box to find the receipt and certificate of authentication. I'm totally shocked and just trying to figure out my next steps. Any suggestions?

Cartier Love Bracelet - One With Rounder Edges Than The Other?

I am not very familiar with Love bracelets (only have two - one small one and one regular one with diamonds). However, I have noticed that two, otherwise identical bracelets, have a slight variance. One has more squarish look and the other one rounder edges and looks a tiny bit less "bulky," if you will. I understand that the one with rounder edges have been more polished by
Cartier. I need to add that both are very recent purchases and both are brand new, never re-polished. Is this common? Which one is preferred or has more classic look?

(The pic is the best I could do) - the one on the right has slightly rounder edges. It might be hard to see but in reality it is more noticeable.

Chanel Vintage Chicklet Necklace Question

I have several Chicklet necklaces all procured from different sources and I am curious about how they were made and reasons for their differences.

Four of them look similar, as far as the larger rectangular beads with squared edges, 5 smaller beads in between each larger one, thicker gold around the smaller beads and the shapes of the links between the beads.

1000092348.jpg

Two of them are also similar to each other but different from the other four. The circular bead count differs from 4 to 5 to 6 between the larger rectangular beads. The corners of the rectangular beads are more rounded. The gold on the smaller circular beads is not as thick and the links between the beads are flatter. The links and gold around these ones actually look more similar to the sautior necklaces. Those are the beaded necklaces that have only the smaller circular beads.

1000092349.jpg

These last two necklaces were authenticated with Lollipuff which was recommended for vintage Chanel jewelry by someone that is very knowledgeable and a seasoned reseller of chicklets as well as many other Chanel vintage jewelry items.

All the necklaces have the same tag style. I received one necklace that was determined to be fake by legit grails and the tag was completely different. This was before I had several to compare to. The stones were also really large which I guess is a possibility as well.

I also weighed these because the last two that are similar seem to weigh a lot less when you just hold them. The first four weigh between 165-200 grams and the last two weigh 120 grams.

These were only made in 1981 and I'm a little bit confused why they would be so different, if all authentic, in how they were made. Was it just different seasons? Like maybe the heavier ones were made in one season and the lighter ones were made in another season? Along with the sautior necklaces.

I'm sort of at a loss as to where to find this information so hopefully someone here may know!
Thank you!!

Your thoughts on sparkle during daytime & choice of an everyday necklace

Hi All! I would like to get myself an everyday necklace that can be dressed up or down. Something along the lines of a simple pearl or diamond pendant. I have a few questions/concerns that I am hoping you lovely folks can help me with.

I've read numerous places and was raised with the idea that sparkle is for night time only, thus diamonds are to be worn during the day only on a wedding/engagement ring. If I choose a diamond pendant, will it be considered tacky or uneducated to wear it during the day? Or has this "rule" gone the way of matching your purse to your shoes?

If I choose a pearl pendant, which is considered more formal, a drop pendant or the ones where the chain goes through the middle of the pearl? I would like to be able to wear this necklace with dresses on semi-formal occasions like funerals, weddings, work dinners, etc. Or is a single pearl not dressy enough for these types of events?

I wear mostly yellow gold but also wear a lot of 2-tone and sometimes wear silver or white gold. I think diamonds tend to look better with white gold/platinum, while with pearls, it depends on the tone of the individual pearl. I don't know if I should get something in yellow gold or one of the white metals.

I'm also torn between maxing out my budget on one really nice necklace vs getting two less nice ones, one in yellow gold and one in white.

Any input and thoughts are appreciated. TIA!!

Some ideas along the lines of what I have in mind follow:

SOS! First time Purchase regret

Hello fellow Chanel lovers, I greatly need some advice. I have coveted a Chanel classic flap for years, and after passing the bar exam, I just bought one today as part of the cruise drop. Mine is the black lambskin mini rectangular.

I was so excited and I was buying the last one, but now an hour later I don’t know if the bag is me? I am now contemplating selling it. Can anyone give me any advice?

Birthday Gift - Gold Pendant

Hello!

I am looking for a birthday gift for myself. I already have many diamond pieces (studs, pendant, eternity band, hoops etc). I also have a Cartier love bracelet in yellow gold and VCA MOP 5 motif. My style lends pretty causal. I am looking for a gold pendant. I am stuck between the VCA guilloché or mother of pearl, Bvlgari b zero necklace, or juste un clou necklace. Does anyone have any recommendations out of these? Or even something else under 5k that I can treat myself too. I have also attached pictures of the items discussed Screenshot 2024-11-14 at 9.32.17 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-11-14 at 9.33.30 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-11-14 at 9.33.05 AM.png

Help: Lady Dior Diamond Motif Issue

Hi all!

First time starting a thread so this layout may be funky but looking for some advice, here is the background context:

I brought my small Lady Dior in the Diamond Motif design while traveling in Norway the end of 2022, wore it for two hours the next day and half of the back of the bag was completely worn through, took it to the boutique in Milan because that’s where I was when I realised the issue, they were very chill about it and offered me an exchange straight away, I accepted the exchange because the SA who made my appointment told me she’s never seen the issue on the design so I just assumed I got a defective bag, except in retrospect, that is clearly not the case.

Fast forward to the end of 2023, I had worn the exchanged bag a total of no more than 5 times and the motifs on the very bottom row of the front were peeling, I genuinely have zero idea what could have possibly caused it, I baby that bag like no other and nothing I know could’ve rubbed against that section of the bag.

I took it to the boutique in my area and at first they said no international exchanges, followed by only one exchange per bag except the boutique said they can’t see the exchange from Milan on my profile, despite me explicitly asking the SA in Milan if I needed to do any paperwork for the exchange (she said no). I was also told they only had a one year warranty, despite being told two years after outright asking at the original purchase boutique in Norway and the boutique in Milan. Then someone who I believe to be the manager came out and told me they would open a case to determine whether it will be credited or repaired which could take up to 8 weeks.

I ended up getting the bag back in March 2024, and it was repaired okay, the peeling still slightly noticeable but only really if you knew it was there in the first place. The SA who was there that day and gave me the bag also acknowledged that the peeling is likely a manufacturing issue.

I wore the bag for the first time since repair in early September and after one wear both a section on the front and the back started rubbing again. I took it back to the boutique immediately the next day and they again said it would take 6-8 weeks for assessment and possibly repair despite me reiterating that I would like to exchange for a store credit both times this issue has happened because it is obviously a reoccurring issue that is not going to be resolved through them constantly having my bag for repair 2-5 months of the year.

I have also texted the SA in charge of the case this week because it is now over two months and I have gotten zero updates, I have yet to receive a reply.

I am honestly at my wit’s end because this is simply not feasible and I’m doubtful they’ll actually give me a store credit. I am flying out to Paris at the end of this week and was wondering if anyone knows whether the flagship in Paris could be of any help in this case?

TIA!

Bag Personalization/Bag Charms/Bag Flair

I have always been an accessorizer, maximalist, a little extra maybe… I have always loved me some whimsy, loved me some flair. I have been accessorizing some of my designer bags since 2014, with the fun Fendi straps, bag charms, like the Fendi monsters, etc, Dior saddle straps, and LV straps and charms, etc. However, I prefer to keep my more costly bags, my Chanel and Hermes bag, clean and pristine, only using a twilly to help keep the lighter bags handles clean (don’t really like the look) or changing straps for a better fit. At this time, I own only one Hermes rodeo, most likely my one and only.

Lately though, I have been having fun, getting into the bag charm trend, decorating and renewing my older designer bags. I have gone back to shop my own closet to take out some of my older bags which have been out of rotation, some vintage, to charm them, renew them, spruce them up for fun… some for me and some to be gifted to my high school nieces.

Thought we could start a new thread for our bag personalizations, bag charming creations, etc. Let us share, just as we share our bag collections, our bags for the day, our bags in action, etc. I know it’s not for everyone, not everyone’s cup of tea, tacky for some, lol, but if you so feel inclined…

Please help me decide if I should get the patent mini bag.

The bag in question is from the 23p collection. There’s a some cracks near where the stitches are. Is it worth the $$ for this bag. I haven’t seen any reviews or posts about this bag here in any thread so wondering. I heard patent is hard unless is dark colour. I am not sure if this is dark enough.

It’s a unique bag that’s the only catch and a mini.

Would you buy or skip this ?

10-motif necklace for daily casual wear

Hi there, would love to get your experiences if you wear the 10-motif as an every day or close to every day necklace. I’m interested in buying one but it’d be a big splurge for me so I’d like to get something I can wear daily. I’ve already ruled out MOP because I drink a lot of coffee, tea, and other drinks and don’t want to be scared of spilling on the motifs. What would you recommend between onyx, carnelian, and hammered gold (assuming I can order it)?

Another thing is I have black hair and I don’t know if the black would disappear into it, or maybe that’s a good thing for casual wear, I don’t know. My daily attire is fairly casual and not very feminine, think a Toteme or APC aesthetic.

Thank you!

VCA shopping in Mexico City

Has anyone shopped at the VCA boutique in CDMX? I’m planning my travel for 2025 (I live in the USA) and will be taking a trip to Mexico City and then also to Europe a few months after that, so lining up my wish list items! I have never been to Mexico City, so not sure how the prices are and what the VAT refund situation is like. Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Hammock: compact vs. small

Hi Everyone! I’m totally new to luxury bags but I’ve been eyeing Loewe a while now. I’ve been trying to find any posts or videos on what actually fits inside a compact hammock versus a small hammock and I’m shocked to find little information.
Can anyone help me out (photos would be great too, if at all possible)? There’s no store even remotely close to me, so I would be purchasing online.
Also, I am deciding between soft grained calfskin and Nappa calfskin, so any explanations on how those feel/act would be helpful too! Thanks in advance!!

Online order quality vs In store

Hello! I made an online order for a pair of the Love hoop earrings. When I received it, I noticed hairline scratches on the side. I brought it to the store to make an exchange but they said that some scratches may happen when the person is packaging it. They advised it would be better to return it and order another pair online than exchanging in store because the quality would be better. However they also said that there’s no guarantee that the next pair would be in perfect condition.

I’m wondering if anyone else who has ordered online before, if your items came in perfect condition or if what the sales associate said was typical? Or if anyone has other suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks!
