Herbag dilemma

I recently was given a herbag by my mother. The bag came in pretty terrible condition but I was able to breathe new life to it by using some Saphir crème universelle on the vache leather and dry cleaning the fabric portion.

It’s actually a herbag before they added the zip to the pocket so we’re talking early 2000s most likely. I was considering sending it to H spa to get the leather parts replaced but I really love the patina it’s developed over the years. I don’t love all the water (or is it oil?) spots on the top flap but I’ve learned to live with it. What concerns me the most though is the cracking which you can see on some of the closeup photos. Not sure if this is past the point of no return. What would you do? Keep it as is or pay to get the leather replaced? There’s something about brand new vache that I despise lol It feels so ick to me haha. Anyway, any thoughts appreciated!

Never Full Empreinte Peeling

I need some advise . I purchased a never full MM in black empreinte leather in May of 2024 . I just noticed that the bottom edges, the trim, is peeling off. I’m just a little disappointed , since it hasn’t been even a year since I got it. Will this be something that LV would repair , or would I have to pay out of pocket for the repair. Or is this normal for this bag.

Funny Experience: Is My Hermès "Chaine d'Ancre Compose" Jacket a Production Error?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the new Hermès 2025 Spring/Summer "Chaine d'Ancre Compose" jacket (item code H5E0177DEDO) from an Hermès boutique. I was so excited to finally bring it home, but when I had a closer look, I noticed something funny (and a little puzzling) about it.

The jacket’s collar has a beautiful printed pattern, but it’s stitched on the inside instead of the outside, as shown in the official photos! 😅 I even double-checked my receipt and confirmed that the item code on the jacket matches the one on my purchase receipt (H5E0177DEDO), so it’s definitely the correct product.

Here’s what my jacket looks like:

1736604358802.png

And this is how it’s supposed to look (based on official photos):
1736604381970.png

Since I bought this directly from the boutique and not online, I’m starting to wonder—could this be a rare production error, or is it some kind of hidden design twist that I’m just not aware of?

I honestly find the situation pretty funny, but I’d love to know if anyone else has encountered something similar with Hermès or other luxury brands. Do you think I should bring this up with the boutique, or should I just embrace it as a quirky "limited edition" feature?

Thanks in advance! 😊

Hi! It’s my birthday at the end of the month and I’m trying to decide which ring to get. I want something timeless that I can wear everyday. I’m between the knot ring and cartier’s JUC ring. I have long skinny fingers 🫣😊 anyone own these two that can give me feedback or advice?

Perlee d’or sizing quandary

POG-Keep or not?

  • Keep

    Votes: 7 87.5%
  • Return

    Votes: 1 12.5%

Help please! I’ve done a lot of reading but I’m still feeling stuck and would be grateful for some advice.

I bought the POG online a week ago and whilst I love the design, I’m worried that it’s too large on me. I wear a size 17 love and my wrist measures 15.8cm. I understand it will never stack flush but I can pass it over my loves (removed in some pics as I don’t want to scratch the POG if returning).

I went into VCA today to try on other bangles to get a better idea of sizing. A small signature stacked well and I liked the fit but it didn’t fit so easily over my wrist bone and my SA thought it was too small. Then I tried a medium sweet Perlee which seemed a little too large. Also, when I put the POG on, my SA did comment that it looked a little large.

So, as the poll says: keep or return?

Other things on my mind: what if I want to add other VCA bangles in future (although I’m not keen on the signature and I wasn’t sure about the sweet Perlee in person)?

@spaul ’s post about orders reopening also makes me wonder if a small might be possible but there’s no guarantee it’ll fit of course (and do unicorns ‘strike’ twice?)

I also quite like it on its own!

Sorry for the essay! TIA

Chanel screws

I asked if anyone had photos of Chanel screws over the years without specifics or referencing a bag. This was to assist me with a cob with a leather repair company THIS forum recommends in NYC to help find the right screws. It was deleted and I was told I was seeking authentication. For what? I didnt post info about a bag i owned or was seeking. I find moderators here to be hostile and randomly delete posts rather than actually consider the question and I happily leave this blog. I will def tell Chanel friends to steer clear.

Feedback pls! LV “Monoglam” Side Trunk. Is Monoglam material supple enough for slouchy look??

Hi all! i'm considering buying a pre-loved Louis Vuitton side trunk, specifically, the navy blue "Monoglam" side trunk model.

However, I want to wear the side trunk with the "slouchy" look. Is the Monoglam material supple enough to give the side trunk the slouchy look?

I've noticed a lot of reviews mentioned that the monoglam material is stiff and feels plastic-y.

Most the reviews were posted soon after purchase.

For those of you who have bought Monoglam LV bags (especially side trunk), I would greatly appreciate your feedback!
  1. Is monoglam material supple enough to give the side trunk the "slouchy look"?
  2. Does the monoglam material soften up with use time?
  3. How does the monoglam material hold up over time?
  4. Does it really feel sticky, cheap?
  5. What size is the Monoglam side trunk? MM or PM? I want the larger MM size that measure is approximately 9 inches long
  6. Do you love/hate your LV Monoglam side trunk? Are you still happy with it??
Thank you in advance for your feedback! It's a big purchase and I may not be able to make return bc would be buying from eBay or pre-loved market. So any feedback helps!IMG_3951.jpeg

Brands under the radar

Hi all,

I traveled to Thailand recently and got drawn into Thai brand Jim Thomson. I already knew the brand has long history around Thai silk (around 1950-1960) and story about Jim Thomson disappearance in Malaysia. Yet I was amazed by the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Not only silk scarves with quality on par with H but they also use natural fibre like 100% cotton and linen which is quite hard to find in western market unless go to high-end designer brands and pay $$$$. I specially got drawn to this linen ombre belt dress and linen capri shorts!
The brand also have elephant as their mascot which is so cute. https://www.jimthompson.com/en/product/tropical-birds-silk-portable-elephant-leather-with-sack-black.
There are so many elephant prints and elephant dolls made of silk. What surprise me on top of that is they are not made in China! They are made in Thailand where the home brand is.
The store was also beautiful and SAs were polite and helpful. It didn't feel like they were reading me or playing games with me, they were just there to help me. That's just how designer stores should be!

Overall that was the true luxury shopping for me and it got me thinking what are other brands under the radar that have always been there but are over looked? Feel free to share brands from other countries. Look forward to knowing them. :flowers:

Is this fixable?

I am seriously contemplating purchasing a black lambskin chevron piece from Chanel that is preloved. I was about to add to cart when i noticed that one side of the bag has some wrinkling--it looks as though it is very dry, but not cracking. Is this something i could rejuvenate with leather conditioner, or the hairdryer technique? Or should I not risk it? Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

15th Birthday (quince) gift

Hello.
We are celebrating a cultural milestone for my daughter. A quinceañera. Culturally, it’s a pretty big deal. A party show stopper is the surprise gift that is present sometime throughout the night. Several of my girlfriends, cousins, and aunts are all contributing to the surprise gift. We decided to go with a handbag. A monogrammed pochette. I personally don’t own a LV so I have nothing to go by, but my question is… would this be an ideal gift for a 15yo. She’s responsible and overall amazing kid. Our thoughts are that this would be a special gift given my many women (godmothers) in her life who love and wish her well. Who wants her to have a keepsake item that carries her into college. I love the idea but second guessing myself on all of this being materialist.

Sample? Prototype? or Rare 1st ed?

I purchased this privately from someone who used to be a Barneys vendor. She said that at the time, this was one of only 2 Balenciaga bags that they carried. She made it sound like she purchased it, but I'm not entirely convinced this was ever intended for sale though. I briefly had a flat brass hobo that was actually NWT. It had Le Dix hang tags but it was lined with black canvas just like most Bbags are. As you can see, this bag is unlined and thats not the only inconsistency with other flat brass hobos we've seen. I'm not concerned about authenticity, but its so different from almost every other Bbag I've ever seen or owned. I'm very curious about its origins.

The bag appears to be made from one piece of leather -- finished leather on the outside, raw/unfinished leather on the inside. The font pocket is another piece of leather with the smooth leather on the outside, raw leather on the inside. Rather than being sewn together, it was glued and the bottom of the front pocket has come unglued. The inside seams are unfinished and the tag is unlike any tag I've ever seen before (you can even see the outline of the tag on the back of the bag). Originally I thought maybe the lining had been pulled out/removed, but then the inner tag would be gone rather than attached to the leather (& visible from the outside of the bag). You can barely see the LE DIX that looks like its faded and there's no zipper stop on the front pocket.

The leather appears to be caramel moto tough, but even thats different. The front of the bag is faded and while the backside is less faded, its different from my caramel moto tough flap and the FBF I used to own. The backside of the shoulder strap is closest to caramel moto tough I've ever seen (even the tassel is different)

So what do you all think? Do you think this was a sample, never intended for sale? Maybe THIS was one of those 25 bags given away in that first year? A prototype for the hobo/besace that came later one? Or do you think this was actually one of the very first Balenciaga moto bags sold (before the Firsts we saw in 2001?) Anyone care to guess or know?

@RealDealCollection if you still check in and read, I'd love to know if you have any insight or additional info about this bag!!

I just purchased Lv x takashi murakami Alma bb I absolutely adore it it’s so so stunning but I’m going through something which is bothering me a lot the strap’s hook is small it is scratching the gold hardware. My SA said this is how it is. You just need to hook it from the handle’s top but it’s still scratching it as it’s smaller than the handle. Can someone please help me out? My pochette metis’ strap fits perfectly though.

What are you wearing for Valentine’s Day?

This year I’m going to surprise my Husband by wearing something sexy, yet conservative enough to wear out. 😉
He loves how I look in red, and I love how these skinny jeans look on me. Belt is for fit and looks cute with the outfit. I also have a silver watch to wear he gave me to match the silver belt buckle. I’m going to order everything soon so I have it ahead of time. I used Stylebook app to arrange clothing design.
What will you be wearing for Valentines Day? ❤️

- Red lace heart cami is from Pacsun
- Jeans are mid rise wow skinny from Old Navy
- Belt is from American Eagle
- Boots are from Banana Republic

Swarowski crystal hardware on vintage Lady Dior

Hi, I have recently purchased a lovely vintage Lady Dior bag in brown velvet from 1998 by John Galliano for Dior. It’s in excellent condition and every crystal stone is in its place on the hardware. My question is if I should put some varnish on the hardware to keep all the crystals in place, otherwise I’m afraid to use it, or would it be bad for the value of the bag? What do you think? Any other suggestions?

What do you regret not doing

Hello my dearest TPFers!

I'm 35 years old and I've been blessed with a (only at first sight) good skin. When you look very closly (what nobody really does) it might not be that good. But still other people would say I'm being petty lol. I don't want to complain at all! I for example have very dry skin around the eyes.
I've never had a skin routine and I must admit I don't remove my make up daily before i go to bed. Just from time to time. I remove it the other day when I get ready for work.

BUT I still want to have a good skin with the hopefully upcoming years. I've been told that if I start now with my age I can still "do something". So glad someone told me this straight up into my face lol

So I was wondering what you lovely TPFers regret not doing?

I would say "I wished I had a daily skin routine and removed my make up off my skin every day before I go to bed."

So let's learn from mistakes :-s
