My newest Dooney... the Belmar 35 Janine in Strawberry.
And she is stunning. I debated which size to get... the 30, 30 N/S
or the 35 and opted for the 35 because the base was deeper.
The Strawberry color is a vivid true blue red. In bright sunlight it
is red, not pink, not raspberry, not fuchsia, and it has no hints or coral or warm
undertones, it's not a tomato red.. It's a beautiful color
and while I wasn't sure if it would be some red/pink hybrid (it's not),
I'm very happy with the strawberry pure red color.
The Belmar 35 is a large satchel, but it is not oversized.
and the base is not 7" (as stated in the listing), but a little under 6".
Due to the structure of the bag, I knew that the usable space
would be smaller than the measurements, and I made the right
choice. It's also about 13" long, at most, not 13.5.
The Belmar 35 Janine is very similar to the Alto Delphina...
in style and size. The major style difference is the Janine has the
leather snap over top and the Delphina has a center zip pocket and
just snaps to keep the bag 'closed'.
The leather of the Alto and the Belmar
look and feel very similar. Both are finely grained and thick and structured.
And oh yes, the Belmar, even at list price, is a lot less expensive than
the Alto Delphina. True, the Alto is made in Italy. But the craftsmanship on
the Belmar is excellent and the look and stitching is very
reminiscent of Alto.
The Belmar 35 comes with a long 3 part cross body strap,
which is 3/4" wide. I don't know that I'd ever carry a bag of this
size on my shoulder or cross body, but it's a nice strap.
The Belmar 35 Janine is a little bigger than the pebbled leather
Janine, which is probably closer is size to the Belmar 30.
