Hi all,
I recently bought the Roquette bag from Les Ateliers Auguste. I love the color and the design however, after some wear (no miss-use, just across the body like in their ad photos), a leather tear appeared at a week point, between the main body and the wing flap, where the strap is hooked. I contacted the shop and they agreed to either exchange or offer a 30% off discount for me to keep it.
Normally I would take the discount if the issue is minor, but in this case, I'm afraid the leather tear will only get worse. In this case an exchange may be better than taking a discount. Does anyone have any experience in leather tear issues in a handbag? I'm also afraid that this may be a construction/design problem, due to the wing flaps inevitably bend backwards to "wrap" around the body. I'm conflicted if this is just a one-off quality issue or would happen eventually due to the design. I'm also starting to see the edge paint cracking at a similar point but on the other, slanted-bottom, side.
The have a one year warranty against any manufacturing defect, which does not cover normal wear and tear, abnormal use or accidental damage. The brand is small so unfortunately there aren't many people discussing about the qualities of their bags but I really enjoyed carrying this bag and would appreciate any advice!
