Is it silly to buy a Mon Mono if I already have a mono?

My dilemma…I already have a Speedy 30 monogram but hubby said to pick a bag for my birthday, nothing really hits me except the Mon Mono Speedy. I like that I could have my initials but feel it’s wasteful to get another Speedy ( I already have 2 in Emprient leather, the mono and a DE ) I was considering the 35, but at almost 5’2 it may be to overpowering for my size. Any thought would be greatly appreciated.

Jumbo classic flap vs 2.55 in beige caviar medium double flap

I did a trade recently. I traded my CF jumbo single flap with a beige 2.55 medium double flap bag. And i got an extra PB hermes bag which made me agree to the trade. 2 bags for 1. But then my sister in law said I was short changed as the jumbo has higher resale. Is it true? I thought it was a good deal due to having 2 bags and the beige bag was also beautiful.

Pochette Valley

I finally managed to add the Pochette Valley to my cart after a week of eyeing it and refreshing the page multiple times a day! It says it'll take up to 8 weeks to ship, but I think it'll be worth the wait. I thought my last Louis Vuitton purchase would be my last bag splurge, but I'm really wanting a Monogram Denim for my collection. Do you own this bag? Do you love it? 😍

Bought myself a little something for my birthday!

Helloooooo everyone…
So my birthday just went by. I was contemplating a double coil serpenti watch purchase as a gift to myself.
I was on the website the other day looking at goodies, I noticed this gorgeous necklace was added to the Bvlgari Bvlgari collection.
I contacted my SA and told him that I’d like to come in to look at some pieces.
Walked into the boutique and it was love at first sight!
I love how versatile this necklace is. It can be worn casually and formally as well. Andddd…..It’s got onyx on one side and mother of pearl on the other.
I had to get this beauty.
So over the moon with this purchase and ultra happy to add this beauty to my Bvlgari collection.

And my lovely SA gifted me a beautiful coffee table book

Is liquid eyeliner difficult to get used to if you have always used powder?

I have always used powder eyeliner, which is supposed to be easier to use. However, I know that liquid eyeliner is more precise. Is it difficult to learn to use if you aren't used it? I have a sample, and it seems to be rather difficult for me so far. How long does it take to get used to it, or would you just stick to powder? Are there any tips or tricks that you may have discovered, or does it just take practice? I am not sure about this liquid at the time. What do you think?

Is this the infamous sueded caviar?

Ladies,

I’m looking for your advice.

I stumbled upon this caviar reissue, 225. It’s a 17 series so from 2012/13. I went to see it in person yesterday and was surprised by the caviar. I don’t know that much about Chanel leathers but it didn’t feel like the regular caviar. It was very supple but it didn’t feel smooth and wasn’t shiny. After some reading on the forum I think it is the soft or sueded caviar?
And then I read about the issues of it getting dirty and that it’s impossible to clean.

I love the bag. The structure was good and the material felt so nice and supple. No damage or wear. But I was shocked by how dirty it was, especially compared to the condition of the bag. Like the owner carried it rarely but when she did she took it down into the coal mines.

I was thinking I could clean it but then I read about how sueded caviar is impossible to clean. Should I pass on this one?
I really like it though I was originally planning to get a small lady dior. I already have a distressed black and gold 226 reissue but I want to add one more reissue to my mini collection. Though I was originally holding out for a grey anniversary.

Thanks !

10 Motif or Frivole?

10 Motif or Frivole?

  • Frivole

  • 10 Motif

Results are only viewable after voting.

I am in between these two necklaces: small Frivole (diamond encursted) in yg or 10 motif hammered necklace also in yg. I do not have a picture of either but have (my personal) pros and cons of each. Both are absolutely stunning and I hope to own both at some point just not now. I have never seen the 10 motif. Can you help me decide?

Frivole:
Pros:
- every day wear
- goes with everything
- bling

Cons:
- a bit too expensive given that the diamonds are more of "chips", meaning too small
- I was a bit underwhelmed when I saw it (beautiful diamonds but the necklace was rather lightweight) - but then I argue that I would wear it all the time so it is a good thing.

10 Motif:
Pros:
- makes statement
- good value (imo)
- love how elegant it looks

Cons:
- too recognizable
- perhaps not every day wear (too heavy?)

Any recourse for misdescribed leather?

Hi, would love to know if anyone has any success appealing quality issues in a Celine purse. I was shopping for a very scratch resistant purse, I made a big deal about this to the SA, and the SA insisted again and again the Heloise grained leather would hold up.

Well, low and behold... the first time I took it out, less than two days after I got it, I wore this purse outside for TEN MINUTES, with normal clothes (just jeans and a sweater), and scratches and peeling immediately started. See photos. I have no idea from what. The only possibility is the little hardware they put on jeans or my nails (which are cut down to the stubs since I rock climb). This side of the bag was facing me, so I couldn't have scraped a wall or anything like that.

So far, Celine doesn't want to stand by the quality, and they say I mismanaged handling the purse. Then, they had the audacity to say they could send it for spa treatment for $250 on my own dime! I own multiple designer purses across brands, and I have never had an issue with a purse like this before.

Has anyone had any success appealing issues like this with Celine? I would just like a refund. I have a history with Celine and have bought purses before with no issues. But they don't seem like they want to stand by their word and the quality they claimed. If Celine refuses, has anyone done a charge back with their credit card under the causes of misdescribed and/or defective product? As far as I can see, either this purse is defective, or they outright misled me during the sale.

New second hand Bottega feels much more flimsy compared to the same model, different color I bought before?

Hello,

I bought my first used Bottega hobo intreciatto a while back from a certified reseller. It's metallic and feels sturdy and solid (please see photo below).1000069139.webp

As it's my favorite bag ever, I wanted to get the same in black. Upon receiving it (same size and seemingly model), it feel so much more flimsy but soft (see below).

1000069140.webp

Aditionally, I wanted to ask if I was somehow scammed as I paid 1300 euros for the black model (metallic was 1000). It seems to be in a good condition but what was said to be a mark on the handle is a bit of ripping:

I understand that black is more expensive and I don't mind getting some flaws, but I don't want to overpay.
Here are more photos of the black model to show that it seems authentic, I'm just confused on the difference in shape, thickness etc.

It looks a bit rough in this part.

Thank you to anyone for any help/opinion! <3

Are Valentino Bags Durable?

I have never been owned a Valentino Bag. I have been shopping in one of my favorite stores and saw some that are cute, and I am afraid it will be difficult to turn these down. Those who own Valentino bags, please tell me if they are durable. I know they are cute. I may turn into a "Valentino Girl" yet. LOL! These are the ones that I had my eye on at Neiman Marcus. The first one is a Rock Stud Double Zip Crossbody that retails for around $1500. The second is a quilted leather top handle bag for about $3500. I will post pics. Is one of these going to be a better bag than the other. Is there a huge difference other than maybe a little room and difference in price. I am having difficulty trying to decide which to purchase. Those who have owned Valentino bags. What do you think?c45a3214-04f2-4bc2-96e9-d55100db3a4a.webpd4d7e5c1-b4fa-49b7-96bc-592ea4e2e23b.webp

Nicole Rose Jewelry

My photo can't do these justice, but I still figured I'd post since I couldn't find much on Nicole Rose Jewelry on tPF.

I'm super happy with the purchase: solid construction, the pink rhodium plating is the hue I expected from their website photos, and responses from the sales team (I'd initially inquired about a custom piece) were prompt. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another piece.

Chanel sandals sizing

My first time getting a Chanel sandal
37 is comfortable on the straps but a bit short on the bed
38 is loose on the straps and 1/4 inch big on the bed and I need to use my toes to grab the sandals while I’m walking.
Does the lamb skin straps stretch ont over time? Should I keep 37 or change it to 38? IMG_8950.webpthank you!!

Is it a good time to sell VCA Alhambra pave earrings now?

I acquired a pair of vintage Alhambra pave earrings during COVID, but never have a chance to wear them, no special events and I'm afraid to wear them during shopping due to potential crime. So I decided to sell them, though they are so beautiful.

Fashionphile quoted me $9600 for what I paid for almost $14K. Ouch! that's a $4k loss. Any there any better places to sell this expensive item safely? Is now a good and strong market to sell luxury items? Thank you very much for your opinions!

question(s) about the current resale market

hi! i am a young adult looking to buy a city bag because i think they are so beautiful and full of personality. i’ve seen people online talk about how they’ve scored city bags for as little as ~$100 USD, whether that be online or at a flea market in japan. however, whenever i look on ebay, poshmark, etc. it’s almost always nearly $1000 for a bag that’s not in a condition that warrants $1000. even when i visited a secondhand store in harajuku, tokyo, a few weeks ago, i saw this beautiful teal bag that wasn’t really in “good” condition for $1300. i couldn’t believe it!!! i’ve been in secondhand stores in korea as well, and while they do have somewhat more sound prices for their bags, it’s usually not in the color or size i’m searching for, and i question the authenticity of them as well since korea does not really have a strict counterfeit law like japan.

i understand the current state of the economy is not so well right now, but has the resale market always been like this? or is it that the bag is just trending again online (i.e., tiktok) that prices have risen with demand? how long should i wait if i want to get a good deal? what online platform would be best to find the best deal for something authentic and not scammy? ebay? a japanese proxy site like buyee? this is my first time venturing into the vintage bag world, so i fear getting scammed.

thank you for your help!~
