Van Cleef & Arpels to Open Two New Jewelry Workshops in France​

The jeweler will be adding 600 employees in the next three years.

PARIS —
As the demand for hard luxury continues to grow globally, Van Cleef & Arpels said it will open two new jewelry workshops in France within the next three years.

They will bring to four the number of in-house production sites in France for the house’s jewelry. Current facilities are in Paris and Lyon, where Van Cleef & Arpels has been implanted since it purchased a long-term partner in 2017.

An extension of its Lyon workshop is also ongoing. The overall budget for these projects is more than 100 million euros, according to the company.

The sites revealed on Thursday will be located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, respectively in the “Porte du Vercors” activity park, in the municipality of Châteauneuf-sur-Isère, and in the municipality of Thiers, next to the Dorat village in the district of townships of Thiers Dore et Montagne, an area known for its metal crafts and polishing expertise.

Pilot sites are slated to open in 2024 and both sites will be fully operational by 2026. The Châteauneuf-sur-Isère site will span 66,000 square feet on a 5.5-acre plot, housing production, support and training facilities. In Thiers, the renovation of an existing building is underway and is expected to also be completed by 2026.

The Van Cleef & Arpels Pépinière apprenticeship training program — created in 2020 in partnership with the Paris-based Haute École de Joaillerie — will be expanded to the new locations, in close collaboration with the Amblard vocational high school, specialized in jewelry and metalsmithing crafts.

Recruitment is already underway, with each site accounting for an additional 250 employees, and 100 employees for the extension of its Lyon atelier. As of 2023, Van Cleef & Arpels said it had 300 specialists across its internal jewelry and watchmaking workshops in France and Switzerland.

Van Cleef & Arpels’ parent company Compagnie Financière Richemont will release its full-year 2023 results on May 12, with its core jewelry division expected to grow by 18 percent, driven by China’s reopening and growth in Europe and the rest of Asia, according to Barclays.

In its 2023 third-quarter sales released in January, the group said its flagship jewelry brands — Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Buccellati — had grown 8 percent in the three-month period ended Dec. 31.

I'm thinking of getting either Coffret Tresor 24 or Coffret Joaillerie but I honestly cannot make up my mind! I prefer the shape of the coffret Tresor, in fact I don't think it is comparable with the jewelry box but the jewelry box is obviously more practical. Does anyone have the Coffret Tresor? Do you find it practical?

The jewelry box would be more practical for me but again, it would have been so much nicer if it would have been slightly more rectangular.

Does anyone know if it is possible to custom order (either for LV or elsewhere) some "interior" for the Coffret Tresor? If anyone have it, do you have the measurement of its "inside"? Thanks in advance for your help!

I have been on the hunt for a very long time for a blue Vibrato Picotin. I finally scored one a couple of days ago from a well known Japanese seller on Ebay. Great price too, so thrilled to add it to my little collection! But I came across what I realized was the exact same listing with same pictures and details from a CA seller on Poshmark (with a $2400 higher selling price). It is still active on the Poshmark site.
Do you think that CA seller and my Japanese seller are one and the same? Then you would think the CA listing would have been dis-activated? I confess I don't understand how the platforms cross-sell. Any insights? Thank you!

Let’s talk! I have a single stone bezel set stone for everyday wear. It’s a nice size (over a carat, old mine cut)
Thinking of a tennis necklace, on the smaller side for daily wear (not to wear with the single stone). Do any of you have both? Do you wear one or the other more and why? Any preferences for casual wear? Is one or the other more “in style” or “up to date”?

I have realized that what fits me the best is white gold and rose gold. Some yellow gold is in fact a bit too yellow to me. I am thinking of getting a pair of Alhambra Vintage earrings and I think I would prefer something else than white gold as most of my jewelry in fact is in white gold but are these only available in hammered gold and pavé if going for rose gold? There seems to be other jewelry from the Vintage Alhambra collection in rose gold with for example carnelian or dark (grey) MOP. Does anyone know?

Hi, I have recently purchased a preloved Prada wicker basket bag but part of the side has cracked. Poteially it may of been sold like this (pictures did not show the sides) or it may have been squished during delivery resulting in the crack. Has anyone had thier wicker bag repaired by Prada? is it service they offer? if not, where would be the best place to have this fixed?

Does anyone know the difference between these two bigs when both full size? I know they are the Lee Radziwill bag but they are of course not the same bag. I know one can be called petite but it’s often tiny and I mean the full size version (which could be called the petite bag I have no clue). I just bought the first version and I don’t want to call it by the wrong name and embarrass myself but I’m also curious if it’s vintage or anything like that? It doesn’t seem like it’s available to find new. The latter was on my wishlist but I found the most amazing needlepoint version of the former and couldn’t resist. Thank you in advance. Hi there, I am not very into Gucci bags but I like the bamboo bags, as I am consider them as classics and somewhat I like bamboo I aquired the miss bamboo bucket bag and I like to know what year it came out, so that I can check, if it is still in the Alessandro Michele era. It has the black QR code label inside, so this is not a vintage bag. I could not find much info about the it in the internet. Does someone has it or knows it? That would be great.

Maybe you've been waiting to add a Puzzle to your collection. Or maybe you've been hoping to grow your current Puzzle collection.

The majority prefer the classic/original Puzzle from what I've seen. However, while it doesn't seem like the OG is being discontinued for now, there's definitely a much smaller range of OGs than there used to be. Going off the Loewe site as a sign of things to come, the mini (and nano) sizes are completely gone, as are the mediums. Minis and mediums are only released in the Edge version now. The small size no longer comes with the regular handle and leather strap. You either get the regular handle with fabric guitar strap or braided handle with leather strap.

So I'm curious, with such limited options for the OG, will you choose the Edge instead? Have you perhaps always preferred the Edge? Will you shop pre-loved to get the OG with regular handle and leather strap? I know many are wary about pre-loved due to superfakes and will only shop new.

Anyone have this bag? Does it hold up well? I'm thinking I might get this one as it keeps whispering to me and I think the only way to get it to be quiet is to just order it. It's half-off right now too.

I'm a little concerned (only a little mind you) that it is too youthful for me since I'm over 50 and the hearts are very young. But on the other hand, I never cared about what other people think before, so why start now? The heart chain is a BIG part of what I love about this.

What are your thoughts on the neo style with just the shoulder strap like this one? I'm wondering why it's so much more expense than the leather 29 with the adjustable crossbody strap? Thx!

Hi All- I purchased these off eBay. They only authenticate sneakers and bags. I used lollipuff and they said they are fake. the seller found negative reviews for them and so I was hoping to get your opinion on these and recommendations on who else I could use?
