Arrow Your thoughts needed! Rivoli Tote Bag

Hi everyone!

It's my first time in the Yves Saint Laurent forum and I must say I think I've become quite smitten with the bags and accessories

My local boutique is having a sale on at the moment and this bag, which I first noticed when I was instore at the beginning of the year, is now 50% off! It's the Rivoli Tote Bag, which is made of crocodile quilted rubberised vinyl and comes with an attached zip wallet and inside cell phone pocket.

http://www.ysl.com/us/en/onlineBouti...ote%20Bag.aspx

At my store there's no black available, only the White Ivory and this medium navy colour which I think is quite unusual. The white colour stands out more, but as the SA has pointed out is more susceptible to wear and colour transfer.

After discount the price here is still more expensive than the US, but I'm really quite tempted to get it. It's so large and spacious and I think it's quite fabulous. However, my mum doesn't like the fact that it's just an open-top with no closures and she thinks overall it looks cheap.

Could I get your thoughts please?

I wanted to vote white, but I have a beige bag right now that has so much color transfer - it's so depressing - so I am advocating dark bags.

so I voted blue

Very little difference in shape and appearance with Raspail. I'll pass.

It looks like a very durable tote bag and if you really love it then I'd say to go with the blue, YSL always does navy so nicely. Don't let the sale price convince you, though, if you wouldn't otherwise be looking to purchase it because that's money that could go towards another bag which is calling to you!

So you don't like the Raspail?

Had the bag in my hand at the 57th St store in NYC and was completely disappointed after having seen it online. It feels cheap, is huge and wasn't comfortable to carry imo. It was a steal at only 340 or something like that but instead I went with the Cascade-Print Raspail which I'm totally happy with

Ooohh so that's the one! I saw both that and the red version in my store, as well as a yellow in the slimline style. Was very tempted too. Congrats on your purchase.

I'm actually kinda glad I didn't end up getting either of these bags - I think a Muse would be a nice first YSL piece for me...

^I think it's a bit hard to choose a good YSL bag as a guy. I have a Caramel OS Muse, but don't use it too often since I have the feeling I have to be dressed extra severe and masculine not to look too feminine (Even think about selling it, but on the other hand I like it too much to let it go completely). I do love my Raspail and my Rive Gauche though and have my eyes set on a Sky Anthracite Besace. I would check out the Rive Gauche, I usually wear it messenger style, but it can also be worn in the hand and the goatskin is sooo scrumptious!
