Cosmo, have you thought about contacting YSL directly and seeing what they will do for you? Explain to them your concerns about the repairs- I believe that most brands offer at least a 1 year warranty on their bags. At least if they mess up on the repairs they might be willing to replace your bag. Saks is definitely tightening up on their policies, which bites for those that never abused them in the first place.

I'm so sorry that happened to your beautiful Besace! It definitely looks like the sealant has given way, probably due to how soft and flexible the leather is as adoptastray suggested. And I'm sorry that Saks wasn't more helpful, I feel like they should at least have offered to exchange it for a new one even if they weren't willing to issue a refund or store credit.

I hope it can be fully repaired so that it will look like new and you can feel good about carrying it again. It's such a bummer for something like this to happen to a new bag, especially one you were so excited about and had wanted for so long. Hopefully it won't be out of the rotation for long!

^It'll be ready for me to pick up tomorrow. Will let you know. Since they just needed to reseal the seam, I think it'll look ok.... My main concern is that it might peel along other parts of the seams in the future.

If you are considering an Easy, did you notice my post in the Spring thread noting that the new Easys are smooth leather, not bubbly?

Wow Cosmo-
I am so sorry to hear about your bag. I have worn mine almost daily since Oct. and nothing. The leather got softer etc... but no peeling or scratches. Maybe they can replace it with a new one. I hope it works out. Hugs

So sorry to read about the defect to your Besace! I hope that it gets resolved soon and that it won't occur in the future. The Besace looks dreamy though. Good luck!

COSMO!!! It's been a month or so since I've visited this subforum (for fear of temptation) and I just read this!!!! This is unfortunate. I remember you were practically beaming in your thread when your Besace first arrived. I've worn mine just about daily here and there since I received mine and noooo problems. This is even shoving everything in there for my DS and going to play dates, etc.

I wish Saks would have worked with you a little more considering the money spent for such a gorgeous bag. I assume you took it up with the mgr? I know my Saks in Phx would have gladly done everything they could. They once let me return a bag (unused w/ tags attached and in dust bag of course) that was just in my closet 4 months after purchase date, no questions asked.

I would try dealing with them in the future...heard nothing but good things about them from several tpf members as well.

I know how awful it feels to think there's a defect on your bag. Perhaps it's a fluke but I hope your repair shop does a bang-up job. Plz post after pics upon receipt of your bag.

Thanks everyone. Alouette, I suspect that Saks has tightened its return policies because of the economy. I have purchased all my other YSL bags direct from YSL boutiques. If my Besace had been from a boutique I think I would have had an easier time returning it. But Saks had the black Besace on sale, and the boutique didn't.

I am reviving this old thread because there are tpfers noticing how similar the leather of the "roady flap" is to the besace here that had the strap issues.

Cosmo, I don't see your post about how your bag looked after repair and did you have that problem in other areas?

Do you think that the "roady flap" might have the same issues?
