Default Should I or Shouldn't I...Black Deerskin Downtown?

Hi Gals,
I'm hoping for a little advice from the best!

I already have a black leather downtown and I just bought the raspberry downtown on sale at the YSL boutique as well as a large black leather tribute. The boutique still has the deerskin downtown for $749 (the one without any pockets) and I'm contemplating getting it. My SA said the sale bags will only be around for the rest of this week, so I am really feeling the pressure to decide if I should get it or not.

Do you think it is overkill to get the deerskin downtown when I already have a black leather regular downtown? The price is INCREDIBLE so I am very tempted, but I have already spent a ton of money this sale season and don't know if I should splurge on a bag that is so similar to one I already have...

Any opinions you could share would be very much appreciated!

Honestly, I'd take a pass. I'm just not a believer in owning multiples of the same bag.

After all, there are SO MANY great bags out there. And the next round of sales comes in Nov./Dec., right?

Well, the deerskin is soooo slouchy. Tho they always seem to have it at the outlets, so don't feel pressure...

ITA...one can never have too many bags BUT like Cosmo said, there are so many great bags out there that I wouldn't want to allocate that $ to a bag I already own. I'd much rather put it towards another bag I've been eyeing or wait for another sale.

Agree with the ladies. I'd rather have variety of colors/styles. For some reason deerskin downtown is not my fave, may be the luck of pockets? I do love my calf downtown though. What color is it???

I have a brown deerskin and I love it. It is so soft and smooshy and it looks like melted chocolate. But you already have a black one. The outlets are out of the black btw... that's how I chose brown.

Thank you all so much for the help with figuring this out!

I think I am going to wait on the bag after all. I just bought a lot of black purses (I was desperately lacking!) in the last month and really can't justify the purchase of one more, especially one that is so similar to a style I already own!

I have to say though that it really helped to read your comments and advice since I was having so much trouble figuring this out on my own! I think part of it was that I was worried I was giving up a great opportunity to buy a great purse at a great price, but I think in the end it will be better to save the $ and eventually put it towards one of the purses that is on my wish-list.

Thanks again!!!

^^^Glad the comments could help. We're all about enabling on tPF but when logic rules out, we'll let you know too. I think all of us have purchased something on impulse b/c it was on sale and we didn't want to miss out on a "chance of a lifetime." It's funny to see all the bags that go up for sale on the MP or eBay after all the sales are over. So many purchases that were second guessed I suppose.

The comments really did help, alouette!

I had the must buy panic, which with all of your help has finally passed

The great sales really do make it hard to think logically!

i agree, since you already have a black downtown, you may not be as happy with the deerskin.

I think you made the right choice. I don't have a problem with owning the same bag if you really love it and different versions can play different roles in your wardrobe, but seeing as how you already have a black Downtown I think adding the black Deerskin may have been too repetitive, no matter how lovely it is. Now you can put the money towards something else!

I am already guilty of owning the same bag in different versions (I have four very similar Mulberry Bayswater totes) and while I love all of them and am happy to have them, I definitely wear one of them more than the others.

I am now trying to inject a little variety into my handbag collection, so while I was super tempted and still get a little pang of want when I think about it, I think I made the right decision not to get the black deerskin downtown.

Thank you all again!!
