Hi YSL Gals! I'm a newbie on the YSL subforum, so be nice...!

I love love love the Besace flap that Kate Moss has in the ad, the crackled gold. I would love it in any color, actually.

Tell me:
1. Is it heavy?
2. Is this bag new, or has it been around for awhile?
3. Can you wear the bag cross body?
4. Pros?
5. Cons?
6. Does it ever go on sale?

Hi, I'm a newbie on the YSL subforum too, but I actually just snuck out to the 5th Ave store today during my lunch break and saw the Besace and fell in loooove.

1. Not heavy! Not as heavy as the Muse anyway.
2. I'm not sure, but I think it's relatively new - from this SS 2008 line.
3. I didn't try cross body, but the straps are adjustable and it seems possible.
4. Pros - pretty easy to get into, looks decently professional but still has a relaxed feel, could probably fit a laptop comfortably.
5. Cons - pretty easy to get into, doesn't seem like a good going-out kind of bag (seems better for day time use...but I could be wrong)
6. No idea, but now I'm hoping that it does, too!

Also, don't know if you like REALLY SPARKLY things, but the cracked gold is REALLY SPARKLY. Like, really. Sparkly. I liked the Kate Moss ad too...until I saw it IRL.

Anyways, hope it helps! I'm looking to get a white one or a gray nubuck one!

I tried one on at South Coast about a month ago... The bottom is not sturdy so I would not carry a laptop. You can wear in messenger style... the straps are adjustable. The straps can be left undone, so it's easy to get in and out of.

There is a bronze color at Saks that is not as sparkly as the gold.

I went into YSL on 57th st today just for you They had many of these. And there appear to be two different sizes. They were not very heavy.

They really had about 8 different leathers/colors/embossings.

As for sales, you can get them at BlueFly usually, though their color selection is not great, and they are always 20% off there...

when you went to ysl, did they have a black croc embossed one?

because i swear i saw a black leather besace that was croc embossed somewhere!

I called YSL because I really want Black embossed and it does not exsist. This is what they have for Spring / Summer 2008

Black, white, brown,tan
Grey embossed, white embossed
Cracked gold, cracked bronze

Fall / Winter 2008/2009

Black, Grey, Turquoise
Cracked gold, cracked bronze
Animal print
Grey embossed, turquoise embossed, dark brown embossed, red brown embossed

I do know that Saks and Neiman's will buy different colors so maybe one of them will carry it in a couple months

I think the ones on sale are the white and brown. Black was carried over to Fall so i doubt it's on sale, but maybe the Grey Embossed will be!
