Default Potential new bag advice please
Hi everyone

I could do with some decision making help. I am currently torn between getting a patent muse II or a Scoop/roady flap bag. I like the idea of the patent one as in theory patent is rain resistant (and it rains a lot here!). However, I assume with the suede bits along the edges of the muse II it's not rain friendly? I can't decide which i like the most

Any advice / thoughts / pros and cons gratefully received!

tough call. just remember if you are ok with flap bags (they are harder to get in and out of). GL!

I have the patent Muse Two and it has been caught in a rainstorm with no issues. It's been pretty weather-resistant when I've carried it. The one thing I would say is to evaluate whether you carry many light-colored things in your bag, though. Because the Muse Two is constructed of black suede, the color can rub off onto items you carry in your bag. For me, this really only affected my iPhone earbuds, but if you carry lighter-colored accessories it could be an issue.

As for other cons, the flap does make it a little more fussy to get in and out of, although it has a large rear pocket where you can keep any essentials you might need quickly. And this isn't a con, but it is a very slouchy bag so it won't keep the boxy look you see in stock photos.

Good luck with your decision!

i have a muse II and i love it but i also love the roady..i saw the wine color ...
i think roady is more classic and muse 2 is bit edgy...depends on what look you are looking for.

I have both a suede multicolor Muse II and a Scoop and I love them both. I don't use my Muse II when it rains because I am afraid of color transfer. I did treat it with the suede protector, but I am just cautious.

I think both bags have some characteristics that could be annoying.

Muse II
  1. The Muse II clasp is hard to get figure out in the beginning. There is a way to open and shut it (and I think there is an instructional thread in this forum) so it doesn't drive you nuts.
  2. The handle attaches to the top of the flap so it is easiest to open the bag when it is flat on a surface .
Scoop
  1. Main inner compartment is narrow--see below pic. I was surprised, but the narrowness of the inner compartment has not bothered me.
  2. Handle is hard and if the bag is really filled with a lot, the handle can dig into your shoulder.
  3. Leather seems identical to the besace leather from last season that Cosmo had a problem with, but I haven't had any problems.
My favorite of the 2 really is the scoop. I think it is just such an elegant bag, but has a casual vibe to it too! Good luck with your decision.

Here's the pic I was talking about

wow ssc0619, they are both fabulous, i would not know which one to choose.

I am not taking my Muse II out on the rain at all. Patent perhaps I would, but I do not like patent too much. (I love YSL glazed leather, and have Rive Gauche in glazed, perfect for the rain). I think you will carry Roady Flap (my new dream bag) safer in the rain. I have besace in the same leather and it survived a lot, rain, anything, it is very versatile leather.

good luck
