That sounds really interesting indeed! If you have time, do post some pictures.
I actually think it looks really cool, but that's just me. Here is a picture, just for you!

hahaha... yeah i know exactly what you mean. The besace was my first phone order so I didn't think to ask Danielle to check the bag for me, but I did ask the SA at NR to check the rose for me and I was really detailed about it (she probably thinks I've got OCD). But I think if you're having to order it over the phone, you should have peace of mind. I'm guessing any SA would be hesitant to say it's perfect just in case you later find something wrong with it.

chinsumo, that looks fantastic. now, if that would happen ALL over the bag, it would be even better... hehehe

I'm so sorry that happened to your Besace! It looks like it's been deeply scratched, so it's not just the surface scratches that rub out easily, as chinsumo described. I've had my eggplant Besace since Christmas and have found it to wear really, really well with even daily use so hopefully this was just an unfortunate incident that won't happen again with yours. Mine still looks great and I've taken it everywhere, so I wouldn't be too worried about using yours now. It really can withstand a lot and this type of scratching doesn't seem like typical wear based on my experience.

You may be able to take it into a leather repair shop and see if there's anything they can do, too. It still looks beautiful to me, though!

I have a feeling that it came with those scratches. I just hadn't noticed since they were both beneath the flap of the bag but I don't think it takes away from the beauty of this bag at all! I absolutely adore it!

chinsumo, what kind of camera do you use? the colour on your besace looks so different than mine.

those really do look like very deep scratches. I'm so sorry that's happened to your bag! but on the positive side, it's not on display since it's under the flap, but since it's right near one of the lines on the bag, it's not that obvious anyway unless you're looking for it I think. I had to look for it on the wider shot.

I use a Nikon D80 digital SLR. I've had it for two years now and it's done me no wrong. I absolutely love it.

Wow...I really think you need to take that bag back and get another one of you think it came that way...that is ridiculous, and the scratches are not small....just my two cents...

ryrybaby12, it doesn't bother me. bags are bound to get scratched up with usage anyway. plus my bag is dark, it doesn't show faults easily. you'll have to be extra extra careful with that anthracite, because that colour is light, and the slightest problem will show. another reason why i went with the turquoise!

Wink
maybe it is just me, but I like to have some special scar on my bag as a sign that it had some life, or a "birthmark" like yours. I do not mind at all. I bought quite a few display models and they turned to be my favorites - once I realize they had some life (and I got them for 1/2 of the retail price) it is easier to carry them around with less stress. I bought Rive Gauche (ivory) for full price and I almost never carry it, like it is a precious thing, it sleeps in a bag.

I wish you and turquoise beauty all the best, I like its little birthmark, she is special
