Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new here, but I've been lurking for awhile, and given how helpful everyone here is, have been emboldened to come out of my cave ![]() Question for you all. I recently bought a used black croc Tribute bag in the large size...to my dismay, it arrived damaged :( There's a tiny section that's peeling on the back, probably smaller than my pinky nail (but I'm anal about it, aren't we all), and a few white scratches. Honestly, they're barely noticeable, but it bugs me, and I was wondering if there's ANYTHING that can be done about it, be it through LMB or a good leather repair/cobbler type of thing. After searching through the threads I have an uneasy feeling that patent leather isn't the easiest thing to fix. Should I even try, or should I just return it and get a refund? What do you all think? |

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about the problem with your new (to you) bag.
I don't have any experience with the stamped croc leather and can't help with how easy or hard it would be to fix, sorry. As far as keeping it or sending it back, I'd say it depends on how much it bothers you. I like my bags in perfect condition when I buy them, but don't mind them getting marks from me wearing them but that's just me. Maybe could post a picture of the problem on the bag so people can see and possibly tell you how to remedy it. |

I, personally, would return it! Unless you think its TDF, I would return it. A scratch I could live with. That I consider normal wear & tear, but peeling, is a whole other story, which, if it were a brand new bag, YSL would most likely stand behind and repair but it isn't. So you have to ask yourself, do you like it enough to add to the expense of the bag and bring it to someone good to repair (because if you leave it in that condition, it will most likely worsen) or return it. Good luck with your decision!!

Hmm... I would send it back. Did the seller disclose all of the flaws, including the peeling, to you prior to purchase? I haven't heard about the tribute totes peeling before and will definitely have to examine mine more closely now.

No, the peeling wasn't disclosed, but I just got off the phone with her and she was very gracious about giving me a refund...to be fair, it wasn't something that could easily be seen unless you were looking for it. I'll be sending it back, then. SIGH. My search for my first YSL bag continues
![]() Thanks for all the advice, everyone! |
