Default Newbie mulling over Ivory Large Muse - Help
Hi all, I saw a used ivory large muse today at my local reseller store going for $680, and in decent used condition.

What do you think of the price, and what year is it?

For those who own this bag/color, how has it held up?

I have put the bag on hold for a week. TIA.

sorry, I missed with the name, it is muse you are looking for. I have Rive Gauche. Ivory muse would be my choice if I had tons of money so that I could grab another one of ivory beauties from YSL.

authentic seller but well used one is here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Yves-Saint-Laure...item45ee764bb5

I am not sure about authenticity, but it could be best deal if it is authentic (just post here in "authenticate this" thread):
http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTHENTIC-YSL-YV...item2ea82ac74b

still, if you are sure your seller sells authentic, does seem like a good deal to me. Ivory and black are rarely on sale.

juneping - please reveal when your bag arrives!
Thanks vesna for your help.

I have always liked the muse, but never thought of adding one to my collection, until now! The muse reminds me of the bolide but with longer handles.

So........ should I get it? I have on hold for me..... 5 days left!

Oh, you SHOULD so get it. it is one of the most amazing bags, besides, isn't YSL off white (ivory) the nicest nuance with subtle gold hardware.....the bag is divine.....and not at all problem to take care for, just a lotion (I got mine from http://www.lovinmybags.com/) - they have also a lotion to rub into handles so that they do not get dirty...cheers, Vesna

Sorry I have to ask a rather sensitive question - but do you think the Muse will be a classic bag in the long haul? I know it is a classic looking bag, but looks like the Muse II is the current YSL hot favourite now?

I have spent so much $ on "it" bags, and want a bag for the long haul. I know some people like a bag and don't care if it is in or out, but I want each bag I buy now to always be timeless, like Chanel 2.55, Hermes Birkin, Balenciaga City etc. Am I making sense?

well, the shape of this bag is a classic indeed. Muse II is less popular on a long run because it is not as practical (many tPFers could not stand opening and closing), it is now IN, but Muse is a must have bag...I could not decide between Muse and Rive Gauche - even more practical and more classical bag (has messenger option as well, perfect for work), and I got both. Muse II I bought out of a hip of the moment and am considering selling...the only thing is that it is really made of very interesting suede and is pretty, so I might keep it....anyway I carry Muse proudly and RG as well.

I also saw Roady flap recently on this YSL thread and found that the bag is more functional and classically looking (forever bag) than even the Muse. Just my two cents. I wish someone else joined with opinions on how classical the bag is because I am not the best person for that, when I like something I carry it forever, no matter what is currect trent

but IVORY muse is soooooooooo fabulous

cheers, vesna

i got mine yesterday....i returned it. i lost 20% of the amount as restocking fee. it looked much older than the pictures. i am used to balenciaga so the leather of the muse was a surprise to me...very stiff and kind of hard. but the shape i honestly really love. if only the leather was softer.
can someone tell me if the leather is stiff?? or the one i got was just exceptional stiff?

hmmm, Muse is stiffer than balenciaga, a lot stiffer, it is in fact much thicke leather than bal, otherwise it would not really hold its shape. But, just like Rive gauche, it is soft on touch and softens with age. Muse is a great crossover between structured and soft bag. In softness, nothing can compare to bal, and I understand how you could be surprized

I think the muse is a classic and one that will still be in fashion for years to come.

I have a large black muse and it's a great work bag. When I bought mine in 2007, I was deciding between the black and the ivory. In the end, I went with the black because of my fear of dirtying the ivory quickly. I wear a lot of jeans, and the ivory (and other lighter color YSL bags) are prone to color transfers and rubbing. You can protect the muse with LMB or Apple Guard. I use the Apple conditioner and the stain repellent on mine without a hitch.
