need advice!! YSL downtown

Hi all~

I'm about to purchase my first YSL downtown, but I can't decide between the red patent or black deerskin

The black deerskin does not have the front pocket and costs $50 more than the red....but the leather is so soft!! On the other hand I've always wanted a red bag...........

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my take...

Are you looking for a fun bag or more of a "classic"? The red is lots of fun and a bit "trendier" looking whereas the black is a subdued classic. Also, would you actually use the outer pocket? If you'd use it, you might "miss" not having it in the black version.

I think the black. I have the brown and it is really soft, smooshy and goes with everything. I love the red patent but I am not a huge fan of patent on me.

I love the deerskin because it's so soft! and black is just such a classic color that goes with everything...the thing is I've just bought a dark brown tribute less than a month ago (it's looks almost black)..

The red is just so eye-catching!!

I totally agree with this, it depends on whether you want a more understated, classic-looking bag or you want something that's very eye-catching and really stands out. Both are great bags but will give off a very different vibe when carrying them, so I think you need to figure out what sort of look you want to go for when carrying your Downtown.

I just got the red downtown and I love her! Im not a fan of slouchy bags but I do have a balenciaga city 05 that is soft and slouchy. I dont get to use it often coz Im scared that it might break. Unlike the downtown, it can carry a lot and it will still be ok! The front pocket adds more style to the bag too! IMHO..

I just got back from the YSL boutique....and yes...I bought the RED!!!!!!! now i totally feel you Shyne!!! It's SUCH a show stopper!!!!
Well the black deerskin is really nice too but I just could not resist the red!! and I really think the outter pocket gives the bag more style...

I'm so in love with my new bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
