Majorelle in Leather & Muse comparison pics

Just got these from my SA. The Majorelle is unexpectedly big. Here are photos next to the large Muse and also the Muse oversized..... I think I prefer the patent. Quite a nice classic timeless style. I have been tossing up between the Muse or downtown but now I may change my mind to the majorelle. I will pop down on Saturday to report.

I am DYING to buy a Majorelle.

I have been hoping to get the one pictured below in the second photo; its the regular-leather version in a color that BG calls cuoio (tan). I'm not crazy about the orangey undertones in your pic, though, so I'm getting a bit nervous here...

I assume they are the same color, right?

The upside of course is that it appears that the regular-leather Majorelles are making it into stores already.

Is this a YSL boutique pic or from a dept. store?

I have to say that, in these pics, I'm actually preferring the patent and I'm surprised to find myself thinking that. Rather than simply classic, I'm finding the plain leather almost dowdy while I think the patent is making it a little more youthful and giving it a bit of an edge. I really thought this bag would work well in plain leather, though, so I wonder if it's just this particular color that's throwing me off.

^I keep coming back to look at these pics of the regular-leather Majorelle and I'm just not warming up to it. Kinda disappointed. Thinking I should just buy the patent-leather version (below) and be done with it!

I agree. Usually I don't like patent that much but for majorelle, seems like the patent looks a lot better.

^Yup! Its funny because several of us YSL fans have been waiting for the regular-leather versions, thinking they would be nicer...

The tan Majorelle pictured above is almost as tall as the Oversized Muse. I'm wondering if its a "large" Majorelle rather than a "medium" Majorelle.

The blue one on Kelly Ripa below looks smaller--and she's a tiny woman! Her's must be a medium, right? And the magenta Majorelle on the Saks model looks smaller too...

Cosmo, those both still look pretty big to me. It's not quite as large as the OS Muse, so I think it will tend to look smaller in photos but both the blue and magenta look to me to be the larger version that's available which (depending on the site) is approximately 15" x 11" x 7".

I think Christina's leopard is the same size but just looks bigger because of the light color and the pattern. Kelly is holding hers a little higher but I think when carrying it in the crook of the arm like Christina is, it would hit Kelly mid-thigh, too.

You should definitely check out the camel patent leather in person and see what you think. I still think the color is a big part of why I'm not loving the regular leather version in this thread, but I'm also starting to think maybe YSL knew what they were doing by releasing it first in patent after all.

the cuoio color usually has a bit of an orangey tone. Like my muse2 though. It definitely looks totally different than the reference pic from Saks or nm you have! Wow. Imagine expecting one and receiving the other!!!

I have not been to either Saks Jandel or NM for a while (since NM now has decent selection of YSL, they might be good for checking out the Majorelle even if you don't intend to purchase there) but I hope there's a patent camel at one of them so you can see it for yourself. If I head out there before you have a chance to check things out, I'll let you know what I see!
