Default Lets try this again - Got my Muse II but...
I am continuing the thread that I started this morning regarding a Muse 2 I received on Wednesday evening and which turned out to have undisclosed fishy smell and majorly discolored side panel.
Since returns are not possible with this seller, I wanted to get advice on how to clean the fading/browning of the leather and how to get rid of the fishy smell. Unfortunately, when I contacted the seller she appeared on this forum and denied that these defects existed, which resulted in back and forth conflict and closure of her and my threads.

I now post some pictures for your reference, and ask anyone please to give me any advice possible on how can I salvage this bag - I am willing to dye it myself. This bag is not sellable due to the smell. I would love to fix it and keep it. This morning I called YSL and they will pick up the bag and examine it and let me know if it can be fixed and for how much.
In the meantime I would like to have a plan B in case they tell me there is nothing can be done or if they give me a very expensive quote.

I read several threads on possibly getting rid of fishy smell with kitty litter and on coloring bags with Tarrago dye.
My concern is that this bag has quite a lot of suede and the Tarrago self shine dye is not indicated for suede - I am worried that I will stain the suede in the process...

THe pictures of the back and bottom are for reference of normal and even coloring, the bottom shows minimal discoloration on edges only. Another picture is of a relatively normally colored side and two last pictures are of the side which has severe browning/fading and looks very dirty. The pictures of the sides nor the mentioning of severe discoloring on the side were not included in the sellers item description. The bag was advertised as BNWT and small defects of slightly discolored lock on the inside and "slightly" discolored under the flaps ONLY.

Any words of wisdom (on how to fix the bag) are greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's terrible, I'm sorry this happened to you. Guess it's not worth, or you're not able to return??? Because you were sold a not as described bag.

When I first looked at the bag, thought the sides were from sun fading. Did you try Lovinmybags cleaner if you think that's dirt and grime? Or if the YSL repair doesn't work out, you might to send it to the spa at LMB, they can perform miracles.

IF the discoloration is from the sun, not much you can do. :-(.

Let us know, and good luck

Would be really fearful to try and dye it myself. If you do use painters tape to tape off the suede.

I hate to say this as I sell bags every now and then, but if you bought it from *bay-you may be able to go through paypal to get your money back....this bag is not looking so good, and I too would be upset!

Don't dye it^^I agree with everything LC said.

I would return it. If you purchased it through paypal you can file a claim. I had to do that when I received a canvas bag with a stain on it. Paypal let me return it even though the seller said no returns.

OMG...this is worse than i thought. can't believe she asked for 900!!
please contact bonz + paypal to do a charge back. you paid like almost 700??

you can contact LMB i think her screen-name here is lovinmybags...contact her for her email and send her the photo. she will give you an estimation. and you should forward the estimation from LMB to the seller and have her pay for it.

after i see all the photos...i totally understand you frustration. but i really don't see all the hassels to savage this bag....

btw, i would not do the dye myself...b/c of the suede on the sides. looks very difficult not to touch the suede while fixing the regular leather.

how r u doing? hope you are not too stressed out.

Oh man... I am really worried now - from what I see these fadings are definitely sun/patina - she bought the bag from YSL (date on the receipt) Oct 28th and sold to me just a few days later, so I dont think it is actual dirt unless it was a return or something. In any case I am not sure if I am allowed to discuss this here as the other thread was closed by mods because it became me against her discussion.... please see both closed threads in the bay forum for reference.
I am afraid to leave negative feedback and that she would retaliate... it was through bonanzle so I dont know what can I do with paypal really. Frankly I would rather spend my time and energy trying to fix this bag then engage in a dispute through which she would continue thrashing my name on the forum....
May be there is a suede dye I can use along with the regular Tarrago dye - I am considering dark blue, teal, etc, spent all evening reading posts how to color bags by other TPFrs...
Frankly, for all the bags I bought last year online, I am lucky I only got burned this once so far...

I just read some posts and there is no snad with ppal while buying on bonanzle... no way out of this except to fix this bag and fix it I WILL!!!

This looks like a old dirty used bag not a bag that was just purchased. I myself have two of the same bags purchased one year apart---so a receipt really means nothing.
This is why I will not buy a used back for anyone except Real Deal Collections---at least Corey is honest and you know what you are buying.
I wish you the best. I would not mess around with trying to dye this bag myself.
Lovingmybags is probably the best hope in fixing this bag.

Also the fish smell might be mold in the leather which to me is impossible to get out.

Oy! I read your other thread and this is worse than I thought.

I don't envy you. I would return it tho coz I wouldn't pay that much for a bag that looks like this.

Sorry this seller duped you. I wouldn't touch the color by coloring it yourself. This is my suggestion re the color: get that luving my bags or green apple cleaner I believe it is called and see if you get the discoloration to look better. Also, apply their leather conditioner, maybe it'll help. If it does not, take it with the receipt to a YSL store, and see if they'll get you a new one, or in the alternative, try to fix it, since it is less than a month since her purchase.
Re: the smell, I read on YSL that a bunch of people with the Muse II felt their bags had a gross, fishy smell. Search for it and see what they did. This'll be a non-issue if YSL gives you another new bag. If they don't, then I put baking soda in a bag I bought that had a smell and put it in the sun (just for a couple of days- be careful you can dry out the leather, and get cracks, so definitely condition it before and/or after). Also, if YSL doesn't give you a new one, and you must color it, take it to a good cobbler, recommended by YSL and ask them if they can dye it and have them do it. Best of luck!

don't do anything before you made up your mind what to do.
once you put any kind of lotion on the bag...i don't think you can still return your bag...since the seller seems very difficult to deal with.
don't mess with the bag...try to return it. this is way too much to buy a bag in this condition. it really looks used to me.

Did you seller buy this bag at the YSL sample sale? I believe her post for the YSL sample sale notice states that she bought a bag for her and her mom from the sample sale. If it was a sample sale bag-the muse II were going for $450.00 and it was posted that that many of the sample sale bags were dirty. So if it was a sample sale bag it should have been disclosed would be very misleading for a seller to sell it as if the buyer thought it was a new condition bag from the YSL store. We all know that the sample sales do not have bags in excellent condition.
The sample sale started October 28th. You can see the thread of the YSL sample sale for more information.

Since this thread is mostly rehashing the drama of the previous two closed threads involving this sale I'm closing this one too. As suggested earlier this dispute should be worked out privately.
