Default Leather of Besace
What are the leather of Besace made of?
There's so many different types!
Is there any Besace made of Cervo Montana leather?

I am not really familiar with what types they use. Your best bet is to consult with a YSL store. I found unfavorable reviews however @ Bagsnob.com. I was upset to learn this!

So what reviews did you get at Bagsnob.com?

Go to the site. There u will find a pic of Sienna Miller wearing it. Click on comments. People who own the bag commented that it did not stand up well. That it wasn't strong enough and got holes in it?? Hard for me to believe, but then a bag should be able to withstand a lot for every day use so I don't know. If my $200 Luce can withstand anything, then I expect the same outcome from my $1,000 YSL Rive Gauche or any Premier Designer handbag with the exception of some Chanels (bought mostly for looks and statement). - I am a leather person. I won't buy laminated canvas for even a dollar!

Some of us who bought the bubbly leather Besaces last year found that the leather was too soft and peeled. (I believe that the leather was calf but I'm not 100% sure.) If you do a search you can find several threads on this problem. Here is mine: unfortunately, I'm having problems with my bubbly black Besace There's also more Besace pics in our Reference Library.

this is my bubbly Besace

Also, YSL did a smooth deerskin (cervo) version of the Besace that wasn't quite as prevalent. Here is a pic of shazam's.

Cosmopolitan! I am so sorry to read about your bag you have no idea! It brings me to tears to read about a person spending a considerable amount of money only to get stress! Those kind of things upset me greatly it almost makes me want to stop buying very high end bags because their quality is questionable! If anyone disputes this read on! I've read blogs from Prada too! I find this upsetting!!! There should be a backlash from all of us bag fetish people and maybe then these designers will get the idea because believe it or not, when you buy a Marc by Marc Jacob bag, you can wear it for an eternity, providing you take care of it. Which goes to show, be don't have to bankrupt ourselves!

I'm getting an itch to buy another bag but this time I'm think Bottega Veneta. I haven't heard one negative about them and their bags are still authentically made in Italy. Again, Cosmo, my sympathy! The good thing is I think your bag can be repaired because it is a beauty!! Good luck!

Personally i do own a few pieces of luxury bags mostly from Balenciaga
Like you Bagaholic i am a leather person and if i am going to have to give up more then a month salary for a bag it had better be a good one! I always think its silly to pay so much for canvas(though i have 1 Goyard St louis). Is it because the craftsmanship of these luxury labels have drop? Louis vuitton has this problem.. To me Bottega's leather is untreated as well n constantly needs taking care of because i own several leather Bottega bracelet and the leather kind of darkens to an unpleasant ways well in any case it might be different for a bag I can't judge it
Cosmo the sight of your strap is sad.. I do own a cervo Besace and i started studying it when i got it i realise the workmanship is not as gd( I've got a loose thread stuck on the inside zipper!!!) I think the Nuback besace are more durable as the leather is tougher

Hi, Cosmo is right about bubbly besace, and I have also read Bagsnob review, the negative one (with the holes) was about that one. All of us with nubuck besace have great experience - look and quality are superb. Now, bubbly black besace looks amazing on the other hand and I did not return mine and carry it not as often as nubuck, but it is a stunner. Bagsnob girls have also somewhat specific taste - they rarely go for understated bags, usually they like flashy type of elegance...cheers, vesna
