Hi! So I was impulsive and bought a large grey crock embossed catwalk from the Nordstrom sale --- not sure if i'm gonna keep it (again hehe).
I love the nubuck; it is such a luxurious material. I also think the bag is so neat with the chain running through the accordian style compartments. It's unfortunate that no one can see / enjoy / appreciate the chain except me since this unique detail is on the inside! :( I am also thinking the bag will be difficult to get stuff in and out of if you don't undo the chain. It looks very elegant on the shoulder but also maybe a bit plain? I feel it is very understated -- maybe too much so? It definitely doesnt scream designer bag or look totally unique the way the downtown/tribute/muse/museII do.... I also tried it on with the flap open like the runway pics in the thread linked below but im not sure if I like that look... Another consideration is that this bag is from the 2007 collection, perhaps making it out of style / less fashion forward? What does everyone think? If you could post pics of how you wear your Catwalk (flap open / closed, on the shoulder / on the arm / in the hand, outfits you pair it with, what you do with the chain, etc) that would be very helpful! TIA!!! :) Here is the Reference Library thread with all the pics of the Catwalk: post pics of YSL CATWALK bags here |

hey camilliepoo, I just saw someone yesterday carrying the white python Catwalk and it looked gorgeous! made me think of getting the grey croc one! (but I am totally banned unfortunately). I think it's a really great bag... understated and really elegant. And the grey is just such an easy colour to work with. I do agree that it's not an incredibly distinctive design in the way that some of the other YSL bags are, but actually I like how the interior chain isn't obvious - kinda like your little secret

I do not have it, but I like it a lot from the pics, especially kate Moss...it is just what i like - casual but very classy, just like the chain, it is lux, but inside..I have some fabulous bags but I would redo them to be REALLY my style - remove gold locks, and make them more like YSL plain/classy look. So, I latelly just buy YSL, and catwalk in your color looks great

I finally have my Catwalk bag.
Thanks to the WONDERFUL and AMAZING TPFers who helped me track one down. I will post pics soon.My two cents...I love that this bag is unfussy, understated, no bells and whistles yet somehow SO STYLISH. 2007 style: The fact that it is a 2007 style doesn't bother me, because trends come and go, but as long as you make use of the bag you have, it's totally worth it. How to wear: Resting on your shoulder seems to work best for me. As I like my hands free. I guess bottomline, if you don't like the bag screaming the label's name, this may not be the best bag for you because only the fashionista will be able to recognize this bag and def not the regular folks. My single issue. It's nubuck, and not a great bag to take out when it rains (and .... it is raining right now in California...the catwalk is in hiding..hahah) |

Hi vesna and zashikibuta, thanks for your advice! I agree the Catwalk is a great great bag but I am pretty sure I'm going to return it to Nordies this weekend. I paid $1K for it and I think there are other bags in the $2K range that I am dying for more and should save up for.

That's too bad. I hope you find something you love.
"If you doubt..leave it out." That's my mantra anyway and my wallet is happier. Good Luck!!!

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you! I have the embossed patent Catwalk and I think it just looks like such a classic, sophisticated bag plus I love that I can dress it up or down in the patent. I always need to have it closed, though, because you can stand for a moment with it open (as when you've just cashed out at a register and need to step aside to put your wallet away) but walking around with it open would just make it tip over and spill the contents.
If you think you can put the funds towards something that will make you happier, though, then that's the best option! |
