Just wanted to update, I am just now leaving NYC after visiting the YSL store and have officially upgraded to the Oversize Muse. I have a respect for the large size and know that it would be more practical and easier to carry but I just cannot get over the beautiful slouch and overall shape of the OS.

I will post a couple pics when I get my new one. I had to have it shipped to me to avoid tax. I am so glad I double checked my decision.

my gosh,wait for you new pics. what is the leather feelings of your new OS?

^ The leather on this new OS muse is very saturated and thick just like the Large muse I just returned however there is a bit more texture to this OS one. The leather is a tad more grained. Both are Calf.

When I was talking to the SA he told me that YSL switched over to calf some time in 07 due to the fact that the Buffalo did not wear in so well... JUST as Cosmo stated.

Oh man, what a long strange trip this has been.

So, I received my oversized muse today and I must confess I am extremely disappointed with my whole YSL NY (57th street) experience. First off I felt my SA was very pushy with me. He just wanted to get me out the door with my new purchase and that is it. He wasn't really listening to me and he was constantly "yessing" me even when it didn't make sense.

First, the OS Muse he gave me to check out was a floor model that had scratches and scuffs and I was totally not happy with it so I asked him to check the back for more options. I assumed they would have a good selection considering it is such a well known location but I was wrong. So he brings up a couple of others that had clearly once been floor models as well. Their bases were bent and you could just tell they had been sitting around for a while, kwim? So I firmly told him no, even though I could tell he was a bit annoyed with me, and asked him one more time if there were any others.

I explained that the ones he was bringing me were from 08, last year's models, that had clearly been sitting around for a while and that I would prefer a brand new 2009 model. I mean seriously, I could go to e-bay if I want a beat up 07 or 08 muse and pay way less money! So after a few minutes of waiting he comes up with two more bags yelling across the store that he had found 09 bags. I was thrilled!! So I am looking them over and they looked pretty decent although they were not "fresh from the factory" that is for sure.. they were no longer stuffed etc.. I go to inspect the cards and one says it's from 2007 and the other has no card at all. I ask him how he knows that they are 2009 he says he just knows. I say: "well this one has a 2007 card" and he just nods his head yes and says "uh huh.. 2007".. I'm like WHAT?? You just told me it was from 09 and now you are saying it's from 07.

To be honest it wasn't life or death that the bag be from 09 but I just wanted my bag to be brand new. I would have, however, settled for an older bag as long as the condition was fine.. but I really couldn't stand this guy's attitude.

So, I get the package today and the bag was wrapped so poorly! It wasn't even stuffed all the way, the zipper wasn't even closed, the leather key strap was all twisted up.. and I sure enough I check the card and it says 2008 on it!! After he assured me I was getting a 2009 model.. lol. I kind of figured this would happen but I am just floored that they can get away with this behavior. I don't think this guy was the sharpest tool in the shed either which may have had something to do with his behavior. BTW- I am purposely leaving his name out of this. If anyone cares to know it you can PM me.

So, I ordered a new OS Muse online which will be delivered tomorrow morning and I am sending the other one back

^ that is not an acceptable experience AT ALL. Im so sorry you had to deal with such an unhelpful SA. I hope you finally get the perfect muse you have been after! I have the OS muse which I purchased in 2006 - I still use it and love it and it has held up beautifully.

I have found some people like that in other high end stores...I did not buy parchment Fendi bag (gorgeous) this July in Hawaii because people in the store behaved like I was annoying them with questions about the year of a model, condition, and it is a $2000 bag, a display model with no discount! And I will buy it off ebay 4 times cheaper.

I hope your 2009 muse comes soon so that we can see moeling pics and hear that you are happy in the end. Fingers crossed..V

and the saga continues...

I swear to you all I am not usually like this with purchases. I usually buy a bag and that's that..ask anyone who knows me on here..lol.

Ok, so I received the OS Muse from ysl.com and the first thing that catches my eye is a big pen mark about 2.5 inches long near the tag that say "do not remove, for exchanges etc.." and there were also pen marks on that tag as well. So someone obviously was handling the bag with a pen in their hand. Other than that the bag had beautiful leather, was packaged perfectly etc.

Now, I also realized upon receiving this OS Muse that the grass is not always greener on the other side and I am now going back to a "Large" Muse. It breaks my heart to think that I could have avoided all of this drama by sticking to my original purchase, which was a PERFECT and BEAUTIFUL muse. But at least I know that this is the right choice and am not going to spend the next few months worrying if I made the right decision.

So.. that's that. I will soon have my original bag back in my hands.. hopefully it comes to me in good shape

I think I've only been in the 57st store once...but I usually go to the Madison Av one. My SA there is extremely polite and nice.

Btw, I didn't know you can avoid tax with YSL stores and/or online?

^ Only if you live in a state that doesn't have an YSL store. That is the same for other companies too. For example, if you live in a state that does not have a Bloomingdales and you purchase something from www.bloomingdales.com, you will not be charged tax.

I will take your advice and shop at the other store next. Thank you all.

Actually, you are right because the other SAs who were there seemed very nice and "human-like". I think my SA was new because he was being corrected by another SA for giving me incorrect info (for telling me that they didn't ship on Saturdays) and it seemed like they were watching him.

He was probably pushy due to the fact that he was new and was desperate for a sale. I would have rather worked with anyone else that was there but I got stuck with him. It wouldn't stop me from going back to that store but I would definitely work with a different SA
