I love this bag but truth be told the slouch of the oversized muse has been haunting me. I'll keep you y'all posted!
^I totally understand. You should definitely go try on the Oversize just to be sure.

Here's my two cents on the two Muse sizes. Back in 2006, I got the Oversize and it was the most-sought-after size at that point--the one on all the celebs and seen on the runway. The big size/slouch was what made the Muse different and fresh at that point; it was the main part of its mystique. I don't regret purchasing it. BUT, if I bought a Muse now, in 2009 heading into 2010, I would most certainly get a Large, for several reasons. I think the trend has gone away from huge bags, and I think that the Large would be more versatile. I only use my Oversize for commuting to work. I'm 5'4" and for me, I don't feel real comfortable carrying it out to dinner at night or wearing it on the weekends casually. The Oversize is beginning to look a bit dated IMO. Others will disagree but that's just my opinion.

I think your Large looks great on you, and it will soften up over time. In fact, I've actually been toying with the idea for months of buying myself a second Muse, in the Large size, even though I have this personal rule about never ever buying two of the same bag, lol.

Hmm.. everything you said makes perfect sense. I think that is the main dilema, I love the look of the oversized Muse more but the Large size is more useful. I fear that if I do trade out for the OS Muse I will not reach for it as much because I won't want to carry such a big bag everywhere and the whole reason that I love this bag so much is because it works with just about every outfit imaginable. Jeans, skirts, dresses, heels, flip flops.. Not a lot of bags can transition so easily. I don't want a muse that will just sit in my purse closet I want to use and abuse it.

I think the chances are, especially after hearing your side of things, that I will keep the large but just to make sure I am doing the right thing I will still go try on the OS. Thank you once again!

I finally got an answer from "YSL Online" here it is:

"YSL uses only calfskin and lambskin to make our "basic" leather bags. We do not use buffalo, however we do CALL our classic leather "buffalo" because we have treated it in a way so that it looks vintage and tough, like actual buffalo."

Based on this answer I wonder if the ever used Buffalo?

^As I've said the first Muses in 05/06 were most certainly "bubalus" (water buffalo) and were widely described in media reports as buffalo at that time. I've got the YSL origin card to prove it. My buffalo Muse looks and feels different closeup IRL than the calf versions.

The bag looks perfect on you!!! LOVE it!! I just bought one, too.....black patent with silver hardware. It's a nice, crinkled patent. I was leaning towards the XL before I went in the store, but went with the Large.....I agree with everything Cosmo said.
