Hey all,
A friend of mine is planning to sell her Besace in Grey Anthracite....and is willing to offer it to me for $1300 before she sells it on ebay....do you all think this is a good deal? I have not seen many of these around, and only see the praline one which I also think is pretty! I know this bag was carried a few times, but is in excellent condition... I am now deciding between this and the black patent easy..... Help again.....TIA! |

I am checking ebay for YSL every day and since "afterimage" was after gray besace I looked more focussed. I do not think your friend will sell it for that money that easy. On the other hand, having it from a friend and knowing that it is in a great condition and authentic is worth some extra money, rather than to risk some fake. It is still "like new" for $500 less than retail (by the way, when you have IRL, you see it is just not worth $1880 like Muse II, for example). Tough question. I bought mine for 760 from Nordstrom sale in december and since then gray have not been on sale anywhere. Good luck, Vesna |

^^Thanks Vesna...what did you mean by:
(by the way, when you have IRL, you see it is just not worth $1880 like Muse II, for example).... do you mean that it is not worth the price or that the Muse II is better? I saw a Besace in purple and one in teal for $799 at the outlets.....is that a better deal than getting the sky anthracite? I like the grey color....ugh... Thanks again, Arti |

Also, if you are around $700-800 for any of them, then it is OK, but full price for besace (any besace) is not worth. Muse is so more stunning bag. You know what else about besace ? The most stunning black bubbly besace started peeling - several tPF members reported. I carry mine only occasionally and nothing happened yet, but would not be happy with such a bag for $1880. cheers, vesna |

Wow, great advice that I have not heard. I saw the eggplant and the teal today, and I have to say that I really liked the eggplant. I am also in love with the black patent Easy....

eggplant is soooo funky in a YSL way, not screaming, but awesome, I love it I do not have the luck to have any YSL anywhere near me so I have to judge from ebay and forum descriptions...often I just re-sell the bag which disapointed me, but with besace - it is strange - I do not see it as $1800 bag, but I can not part with either gray nor black, there is just something about it .. I do not know what...and it is not even a real messenger, it is like a wannabe messenger, but I just love it .. and other colors are so tempting let me know and post pics when you decide, I can not wait to se what is your choice ![]() cheers, vesna |

Yea...I know what you mean. I am a very classic dresser, hence why I really love the grey...I am not one to wear bags with color...I am your basic black, brown, tans, ivory etc...so going with an eggplant would be way out there for me, and I don't want to just buy something because I got a good deal...want to actually use it.
I will let you know what I do...trying to negotiate this price down a little to at least $1k.... I may PM afterimage as well....thanks again for all your input, and enjoy your bags....:) |

you should get a colour you really think you'll use - the eggplant will really pop against basic colours, but if you don't think you'll end up carrying it much then the grey is definitely the way to go. They're both lovely colours and it would be a shame to buy a bag and then have it sit on a shelf.

i think you should get a bag that you love and you will make the most use of.
Muse II is such a beautiful bag but you have to be patient with how you open/close the bag. It's tricky from what I read. Besace seems more "user friendly" and gorgeous still. It was inspired by Yves Saint Laurent himself. $1300 is alot for me on a gently used bag though. I'd just spring/save $500 and take a visit to the boutique esp. if it's the bag you want. Good Luck! |

Thanks all!! I did end up paying $1100 for the Sky Anthracite. I wear a ton of black and white, and think this bag would be great for what I wear, and for some reason, I just LOVE it in this color.
She only used the bag twice, and the NM tag is still on the inside...she used her black besace more, so decided to let this one go.... This bag is retail everywhere still (in this color), so I thought I would just get it...what the heck. I also ended up getting the large downtown in the off white deerskin from the YSL outlet and I just LOVE it..... Thanks again for all your input, and will post pics of both soon...

congrats! sounds like a good price for a barely used besace in sky anthracite. And it really sounds like you made the right decision on the colour. Hope you'll enjoy using your new beauty!
