Question Fat bottomed bags!

Hahha and now I hope you all have Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" on repeat in your heads, too!

Unfortunately though Big Bottomed Bags don't make my rocking world go round.. I love the look of the Downtown, but am bothered that on the medium and large sizes the base on it is almost wider than it is long! Do you ladies with one find it a pain how much it juts out?

I spend all this time in the gym so that I need not turn sideways to fit through doorways, I'd hate for my bag to have me doing it anyway!

The base on this bag for example is almost 10" x 9.5".

Pics from eBay:

LOL!

I do not know about the patent downtowns, but mine is super soft since it is the Vichy (check pattern) dowtown similar to the one TPF member Shazam has, but in medium. It is slouchy and lined in suede, so the bottom bends or folds a little, so the shape does not bother me.

There are lots of patent leather downtown owners out there, please tell us what you think!

I have two downtowns but only managed to carry only metallic one so far. Mine is very soft and slouchy when carrying. The bottom bends like gr8heart mentioned (depend on how much stuff you put in your bag). So I never felt its big bottom a bother. Patent leather seems to hold it shape better than the metallic. My guess is that it may give a feel of bigger bag than you'd get from the metallic.

Ahh, I see, thanks ladies! I guess seeing the bag on it's end like that I didn't stop to think that it might fold a little with stuff in there. I've been going through the celebs with YSL thread as well to see them on people and it doesn't look half so bulky on as I thought it would with that big base. It's a bugger I can't go anywhere here to see for myself how it feels to wear.

The wonder of Downtown is its 3-D shape. You will appreciate that it can carry a lot of things inside.

I totally agree, my Downtown is so soft and slouchy that the bottom doesn't bother me. The bottom does keep it's shape to a degree, but it's not rigid or really structured, so there is some give and bend depending on what I'm carrying. When I was traveling with it, I had it totally stuffed and then it looked like a wide bag but in everyday use it has a little sag to it.

I carry my deer skin Downtown all the time and during both weekday and weekend. It's so soft and the leather breathes....just wonderful.....
