Hi all! am new to YSL but fell in love with the belle de jour clutch! am deciding btw the gold and the marine patent (which is kinda blue/black). Pls help!!! thanks!

Thank you for the reference pics, I suppose it depends on the occasion. If you are looking for an event, then the gold is gorgeous... for a toned down everyday or business look, the navy patent is divine.

I think it depends on what you want. The gold makes a bigger impact and makes it a great evening clutch but it will be more delicate as the metallic will be prone to rubbing off with regular use, especially in a clutch where you need to hold it or tuck it under your arm all of the time. The marine patent is more understated but will be extremely durable, and I think makes it a little more wearable for daytime, too.

I really like that shade of the Marine, personally I'd go with that and it seems like it'd last a lot longer.

Beautiful! Like everyone has already mentioned, I htink it comes down to what you would use it for - for a "night out" clutch, I think the gold would be fantastic. For something a bit more every day that could handle more wear and tear, the marine would be perfect! And YSL patent leather is super soft and durable too!

personally i love the leather of the gold one..the texture gives the depth. the color of the marine is so pretty and quite timeless.
so it's really up to you...depends on what you'll wear. marine would match almost anything.

Another vote for the Marine here...It's such a pretty colour and you will get much more use out of it than gold.

Thanks all!!! Honestly i love both! I'm hesitant on the patent as I had a bad experience with a patent cream bag that I got ink marks on the first day I got it!

According to the SA, the gold is of a certain leather (can't remember what) and thus it's more hardy. Can anyone verify this pls?

The dimensions listed on the site don't seem accurate. It says 10 by 13--but this looks more like the width is nearly double the height...hmmm.
