Default Baffled with Muse 2. Slouchy or not?
I've been loving the Muse 2 but don't like it's too slouchy appearance especially when handheld or held at the crook of the elbow.

What confuses me is that some pics show the top middle part as slouched in and some bags still hold their shape. Is it because it's empty?

I've borrowed some pics to show what i mean. Thanks to City of Light & Glamazon Huntress for the lovely reference pics. Both are Large Muse 2s.

also, will a muse 2 large be too large for dinners out? i don't have a ysl store nearby.

Is the medium heavy? the large?

thanks for helping!

I don't have one, so I could be wrong--but I think the difference is that in the first photo the little leather straps on the front are closed too--in the second photo only the middle clasp is closed.
IMO I like the slouch. . .it allows the bag to relax. . .so it would go with casual clothes. I doubt I'll ever get a Muse II, though because the whole handle on the flap thing would drive this slobby (slouchy??) never have my purse closed woman CRAZY! haha!!

What makes it slouchy is where/how close the bag. If you only do the middle one then it does slouch more (as explained above). Closing all three retains its shape.

I like to wear it both ways but more often than not I'm too lazy to close all three so it's always slouchy.

It's a really soft bag. The stock photos make it look like it's structured, but it's not and will collapse on itself when you take out the stuffing (how much will depend on which version it is). Mine usually looks like the second photo, and I don't think the straps are done in the first photo, either, so my guess is that one is still stuffed with tissue.

Keeping the straps fastened will help keep it looking neater, but (in my experience) in everyday use it does not have the boxy look, even when the straps are fastened. I actually love the slouch because I think the way the bag hangs is a big part of its style and keeps it from looking too much like a briefcase.

The medium can slouch, too, especially if you carry a lot. Here's a picture of (I think) Naomi Watts's medium and you can see it's slouching even with the straps fastened:

The large is a very large bag and I have carried mine out to dinner, but if you're planning on using it primarily for evenings then I'd definitely go with the medium. If you're really turned off by the slouching, though, I don't know if you'll be happy with either size, so make sure you'll be able to do a return if you take the plunge! Hope that helped!

i wonder if i can attach a metal strip on top. the bag looks gorgeous but when it'd distorted like naomi's one it doesn't look so nice anymore. but it would make for a great evening bag. and i love the multi compartments and especially the back pocket.

when are the big sales anyways? is it Jan and and of May?

I have the medium in the multi colored nubuck and it does slouch even with the outside straps are fastened. I really love the look though! Mine in action looks just like the picture that shazam posted...

Why not just get a Mulberry Bayswater if you want a bag with a flap with no slouch? They are gorgeous!

IMO I think the reason people buy the YSL Muse two bag over the Bayswater Mulberry bag is because they like the softness of the bag and the casual slouch. I think it is meant to give a casual feel unlike the stiff Kelly Hermes bag which costs thousands of dollars. It depends on your needs! I am a casual person and have worked in law firms and offices and stuck to my casual attire and still look very kempt and put together! So it depends on your style. As far as the closure, when I tried the bag on in the store, I, too, had a problem closing it, but if you place it down, it is that much easier. Good luck!
