99.9999999999% chance... not real. Here's why:

1. The seller doesn't even say it is real. And what's with that tag...?

2. She has other brand new Muse bags. So... where did she get them? My guess is from China or from someone else who got from China.

Let's look at this logically: The only places she could buy a real one would charge her $1195 for the large, so why would she have over $3,000 worth of brand new Muse's and auction them off with the intent of making money, if she is selling at a low starting price with no reserve. She would have to sell those bags for over the price sold by Saks, etc. in order to make any money... if they were real, that is.

3. If you want a Muse at below retail, your best hope of finding a real one is from someone who doesn't sell new bags but occasionally sells from their own closet bags they purchased themselves and it is slightly used.

No--unlikely--he is selling 3 of them--and with a black card case?

Or the person could have gotten it with an employee discount or special limited time only promotion that knocks off a few hundred dollars. I don't see how anyone could sell these bags on eBay for much less than 10% under retail.

I don't own this particular style and, in any event, there aren't enough photos to tell. But, if I had to guess, I'd guess authentic. However, you should ascertain that there is a serial number and that part of it matches the style number on the authenticity card. Perhaps someone here has that specific style and can make some comparisons.

It is fake. It is amusing that a photo of an ad is included so one can compare authentic vs fake!

See how the authentic has a long strap with small buttons holding down the front pocket? The fake has a buckle.

I bought one (and have since sold it) from YSL last year and know that the YSL engraved on the button and end of the handle is much fancier than what is shown on the fake.

P.S. My husband LOVES Alfa Romeos and has a 1967 Guilia.

Even if the bag had everything on it 100% correct.... it is fake... it's the only logical answer to why the seller would sell a $1,000+ bag with a Buy It Now price of a mere $437.

I don't see a buckle (maybe I'm not as observant as I should be). I do see some differences between the bags, but attributed it to diffreent sizes. One reason I thought it could be authentic is because it's an older style and those tend to go on sale (before the Muse, YSL bags often went on sale at NM after the season). Of course, as I said, I haven't owned this particular style...

Help! Is this YSL Rive Gauche authentic? Seller doesn't say anything about authenticity. It probably isn't authentic but can you tell from the pictures? Also, it is in an interesting green color which the retailers (NM, Saks, etc.) don't seem to carry. What do you think?!?!?

I don't have the Rive Gauche, But, aside from other issues, it's supposed to be goatskin, not lambskin.

The seller conveniently doesn't give much info, does he? Besides the title itself, there is no mention of where the bag came from or even that it is authentic. The YSL name is only mentioned in the title.

Do we know if that bag was even made in green? My guess is that it is fake, but if you want to pursue it, I'd ask these questions:

1. Call the NYC YSL boutique (they are very knowledgeable there) and ask if this bag was ever made in green. If it wasn't then you know it's fake. NY boutique's phone #: 212.988.3821

2. Ask the seller if the bag is brand new.

3. Ask the seller where he got the bag.

4. If he says it was bought at YSL store, Saks, etc. ask why he doesn't just return it to the store rather than potentially taking a huge financial loss on it.

I have wanted to buy one of these for ages now and I finally decided to take the plunge. I thought I would look on eBay first but most of what I saw seems fake.

Except this.. and it's the color I want too. Can anyone help?

Some thoughts . . .

This listing is for $1099 BIN and Saks has it for $1295. So for $200 more you can have a brand new one guaranteed to be real.
Yves Saint Laurent - Muse Oversized Bag - Saks.com

The seller doesn't have a lot of feedback.

I have that bag in the large size and mine doesn't have all those wrinkles at the top. I don't know if that sort of wrinkling is typical of the oversize only.

The description said she "sourced it" for a client ... She doesn't mention from where. I would want to know.

The bag is in Ireland. It might be harder to communicate and follow up if there is a problem, if you are not in Ireland.

Thanks for the info! To be honest I was hoping to get it for closer to the starting bid price of $795. I had one of these in my hands and the leather on the one in this auction looks right... The sellers feedback is low but the feedback remarks are very good.. hmmm.. I am wary though because of the amount of fakes on eBay.

What should I ask the seller about the bag (besides where she "sourced" it)... what tell tale signs would show it up if it is not authentic?
