I really need to update here, as once again the revolving door on my collection room has been spinning and I've had rather a few departures and arrivals!
Some of these include bags I thought I'd never sell, like the Palermo which I'm about to post away, but I'm being much stricter on myself than I used to in terms of keeping what I'm going to use and in selling to fund something new. I've had a much bigger collection in the past but feel much better about keeping it more streamlined and less indulgent.
I'm sticking to bags that don't really need much babying, as I'm inclined to never use them.. with the Palermo, it was brand new and had the palest white vachetta ever.. I was going to protect it with Lovin My Bags stuff but hadn't gotten around to purchasing that stuff before the Aussie dollar dropped in value and left me with payment plan installments that were suddenly 1/3 more expensive! So I sold the Palermo to finish off payment plans on new bags, but had it not been such a pristinely perfect bag I'd have been able to use it for the five months or so that I owned it! Because it was so perfect I was saving it for trips away, being too lovely to carry in this small town, and not getting the chance to take a trip I've simply missed out.
So, another lesson learnt, and I think from now on I'd only get a Mono bag with very little vachetta so I don't feel as though I'm losing value on the bag to just carry it around town here, if that makes sense! I'm carrying on too with only getting bags I can carry upon the shoulder, although the only possible exception to this would be a bag for work that I'd only be carrying into and out of a car, and which could be ginormous and heavy without a problem.
Therefore my new Frankie Bag Selection Criteria is as follows:
- Big and slouchy!
- If it's leather, it needs to be thick and smooshy, as opposed to thin and delicate.
- Handles need to go over shoulder, or bag needs a long strap for shouldering.
- The more pockets / sections, the better.
Suitable candidates off top of my head:
- LV Neverfull GM
- LV Galliera GM
- LV Carryall
- LV Keepall 45 with strap
- YSL Oversize Muse
- YSL Medium Downtown
- YSL Large Rive Gauche
- MbyMJ Turnlock Teri / Faridah Hobo / similar MbyMJ styles
- Miu Miu Shopper bags (the many variants thereof!)
- Mulberry Large or Maxi Mabel
- Mulberry Elgin
- Chloe Large Paraty
- Chloe Betty Hobo
- Chloe Square Saskia Tote
- Chloe Edith Messenger or Satchel with strap
....Other ideas?
So, outgoing recently were:
Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini - loved it, but too small - the MA version would be perfect!
LV Palermo PM - gorgeous but too pretty and needed the funds
Mulberry Roxanne in Black Antique Glace - gone to a GREAT home, had too many black bags
Chloe Paddington Hobo in Black - too many black bags, heavy, needed fundage
I'm still going to keep clearing out the closet, and leaving soon will be:
Marc Jacobs Little Stam in Topaz Quilt - gorgeous, not using it enough to justify when I need the funds and have more bags coming
Marc Jacobs Little Stam in Ivory Patchwork - ditto, haven't even used it yet
Chloe Saskia Satchel in Aqua Fresh - argh it's gorgeous and I've not even used it yet, but I could really use the funds!
Chloe Edith Large Messenger in Brun - really don't want to let this one go. Will keep it in reserve with a high BIN I think!
Selling such gorgeous bags is hard, especially as the ones going aren't even not right for me in terms of my criteria, but I do have a few coming now and it's not right to keep so many to be used so infrequently. Especially when..
Incoming I have!
YSL Oversize Muse in Teak Buffalo - HURRAH! My first YSL bag!
YSL Medium Downtown in Purple - stunning, a purple bag finally, perfect for me
Miu Miu Spring Shopper in Black - should never have let it go! lol.
LV Damier Pochette Ipanema - still on it's way, 5 weeks so far!! Great casual small bag for quick trips or out at night
MbyMJ Turnlock Faridah in Ocean - stunning stone blue hobo, slouchy, smooshy, and delicious!
My Bag Cares reuseable tote - this just arrived, and I LOVE it!
