I have VSP insurance and I was looking for some glasses. I've always only paid just $10 for the lens (plus whatever extra the cost of the frames were going to be, etc..). This time around I found out that I had astigmatism and that the cost of the lens itself was going to be $150.. Does this sound right?

My glasses can cost way more than my handbags. I usually get more than a few pairs, also. They can make an outfit just as much as a pocketbook.

I just shelled out $1146.68 for 2 pairs + 3 months supply of contacts. :(( I would do Lasik but I'm such chicken poop that I'd probably have a heart attack while it was being done.

I bought mine in the UK about 3 years or so ago. They are Prada rimless glasses and p paid something like £375. There's no way in hell I would pay that much for glasses here in the US. I am thinking of getting new glasses in a different style but we'll see.

ETA...They are not pretty, they are just utilitarian glasses. I don't need them all time so it's OK. However, if I did buy new glasses, I'd get pretty ones that I wouldn't care to wear all the time.

I just dropped a little over $600 for my glasses, under $200 for Versace frames, and over $400 for the ultra-thin lenses because of my prescription. I wasn't particularly keen on putting logos on my face, but they were the only frames that looked good!

i pay about $150/year for contacts but i have two spare glasses that i bought in taipei and seoul while traveling. they were no-name frames but i spent less than $100/pair and i got the thinnest lenses (i am almost legally blind without vision correction) plus anti-glare and anti-scratch. buying glasses here is such a ripoff... i've had to wear glasses since i was in 2nd grade...

-same here re price (I have the progressives - essentially 'trifolcals'. 250 for the lenses alone (and I think that was EACH, but I can't remember for sure...)! I love glasses as fashion accessories, so I won't even tell you how many I have, though some are now too small for progressive lenses

Any good places to buy styles that are similar to dita or oliver peoples? I just purchased YSL frames over the summer which cost over 350....so I'm looking to spend a little less.

I know these are only $14.00 but Are these actually stable to wear as reading glasses?
