Is that recent? When I was there in 2002 I took plenty of pictures.

When I visited the louvre I think I remember reading that they have multiple versions of the painting that they rotate so thieves are never sure if it's the original or not, that way it discourages people from attempting to steal it.

Everyone takes photos of it...it's allowed in the Louvre...plus there are guards that are nearby the Mona Lisa and no one ever says anything to anyone about taking photos of it...people are much stricter in Italy than France when it comes to taking photos of art!
