Default woman jailed for one year after false rape accusation

http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/a...night-out.html
Quote:
A woman was jailed yesterday after her false claim of rape resulted in an innocent stranger being arrested.
In an attempt to make her family feel guilty following an argument, Kerry Saunders invented a story that she had been sexually assaulted after a night out.
She was overheard making the allegation by a passing police community support officer.

Instead of admitting it was just a story, she told the officer that her attacker was a black man driving a blue car.

I'm never convinced about the effectiveness of a jail sentence in cases like these, but it is right that she was punished.

I am pleased to hear she got what she deserved, but on the other hand, it's people like this woman who makes it bad for the police to really believe *real* rape victims. They are the ones who deserve compassion.

I'm glad she received some sort of punishment for her terrible actions.

What a nut job. She deserves no one to ever believe a word she says again.

GOOD! I agree with meowgal. It's sad when people like this make false allegations. It make sit harder for REAL victims of rape and sexual abuse to come forward. It's incredibly stupid and selfish. I feel sorry for the man that was wrongly accused. I just love how of all races she chose to make the suspect a black man.

A woman can pretty easily ruin a man's life by making a false accusation of rape, and this particular woman not only was prepared to do that, but to perpetuate terrible stereotypes, as well. Women also hurt other women when they make light of (i.e. lie about) rape. I'm glad she was sentenced to jail time, and I hope the man feels he got justice for the false accusation.

Absolutely horrible, she deserves punishment. I agree with hautemama as well, no wonder racism still exists. What a horrible thing to lie about, and what a horrible FALSE accusation to be made of an innocent man!!

She deserves it. Not only does she make it harder for real rape victims to be taken seriously, she wastes law enforcement's time and money.

She sounds like a catty brat. How could she make up such a heinous crime because of an argument with family. Good it blew up in her face, and now she's the one with a record. I hope she apologizes to the guy who was arrested because of her.

What a stupid girl. Not only did she almost put an innocent man in jail but the stress she must have put her family under after telling them she had been raped is just cruel and unfair!!! I am disgusted.
