That's really cool! I live near San Antonio and my family has been here for about two years. We moved here from Arizona after my hubby retired from the military because it costs alot less to live here on a retirement salary. Plus the climate is nice and there's so much to do here. I can see why people live here their whole lives. Some of the best people I have ever met live right here in Texas.

I'm one of the "I wasn't born in Texas, but got here as soon as I could" crowd. I was born and raised in Canada and moved to Houston 3 years ago for work. I love love love Texas! The food, the weather, the shopping, the people. Some people complain about the humidity, all I have to say is....you don't have to shovel humidity. Houston weather at it's worst is still blue skies and sunshine! God Bless Texas!!!!

I'm not leaving!! Love it here!
Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Corpus Christi........isn't all about the RODEO!!

My friend from Rhode Island called me and asked how to do a country line dance or something, I didn't know what she was talking about,....I told her "I don't even own a pair of Cowboy boots!" She just figured because I am from TX that I would know!hahah.

I haven't lived in Texas long at all by comparison to my 'native' state of Washington, but I do love it here! I have been to all of the major cities in TX, and I much prefer the Dallas area to live in. Houston for one is much too humid, and those west nile mosqitoes like to nip at me! I also like the mild weather (ok that's debatable, but you have to keep in mind I am from the pacific northwest!) and friendly people.

I also have had to live in other states while having my residence in TX (work). I hated it and wanted to go back to TX! Even when I lived in South FL! Go figure.

I was born here in Houston and I will probably stay in Texas since I want to attend either Rice or UT. The humidity sucks but other than that, I love it here!

very true. my DH & i recently bought an obnoxiously large brand-new home in TX that, for the same price, would only buy you a century-old Boston apartment that is 1/3 the size.

LOVE Texas! I moved away when I was in mu 20's, but glad to be back. I prefer Houston (not because of it's humidity hehehe), but because if it's eclectic international culture. It's much more international than Dallas (where I live now). Dallas is still very much run much like "the good 'ol boys club", which is obnoxious to me!

By the way sweetneet.......

Your handbag closets are GORGEOUS! :)))

Love the Rice Uni area in Houston. Such gorgeous homes.

Austin is a great city, too!

+1 on Rice Univ Campus area!

When in college (6 years ago), I rented a garage apt on block from Rice Univ. (the street behind me was Rice Blvd. My landlord lived in the huge house in the front and I lived in the garage apt in the back....$395 all bills paid and it was an updated cute little apt to boot! :)

Order of preference:

Rice U

West U

Bellaire

Montrose

Meyerland (the nicer side) and Heights tie

Texas is a very big state. Maybe there are people who would like to leave, but just can't find their way out.

^I know! I'm from a place in Texas that is a good 12 hour drive from Houston. I love Texas and have only been to Austin and Houston ONCE! Although they were nice towns. My preference has always been the Dallas/Ft.Worth area, but I have relatives there and spent many vacations there, so I'm a little biased.

If ever an incident illustrated the need for an effective mental health care delivery system, it would indeed be that fateful day when poor, troubled Monteczuma failed to send enough soldiers to the beach.

But personally, I say let 'em stay. If we try to boat 'em all back to Europe at this point, they will just get into car wrecks and be traumatized with confusion in the presence of so many different kinds of real cheese.
