I watched the special on this on TLC. It's unreal how she doesn't age. I think her family is amazing for for being so patient and loving!

That is absolutely heartbreaking.
Is there any way surgeons could give her (an atleast close to) decent face? I feel so terrible for her.

& poor kid. I wonder what's going on inside that head of hers. Is she really a teenager trapped in a toddlers body or just simply a toddler?? It's hard to tell. Sad, yet incredible story, if this could prevent the aging process!

I'll be following this story.

If she ends up living a really long time, who is going to take care of her? Her family won't be around forever.

That was my first thought as well.

The article made me really sad... from what I gathered, they've sent her to high school (special ed) although she has the mental capacity of a toddler? And they leave her in the crib with the tv on because she "can't conceptualize time," so I guess they figure as long as she's content who cares?? And the part about not being able to join a swim club or go on vacation because Brooke can't go... Why can't she go? There's nowhere they can take her besides the mall or school?

I'm not sure how "with it" she is, but the only stimulating activities they mentioned are taking her shopping in a stroller and wheeling her around the house on an ottoman. I'm trying *really* hard not to be judgmental, but it doesn't sound like her quality of life is all that high (although she seems very loved which is of the utmost importance). Even still, poor Brooke!

They're showing something about her on TLC right now.

It's a sad story... I don't know if I can be as patient and brave as the parents. I'm not a mother yet, but when I do decide to have kids, I want them to enjoy life, not suffer. My husband and I both agree that if we ever find any abnormalities in our fetus during the ultrasound, we would rather not have the poor child suffer.

And that story about Juliana Wetmore... my Gosh...

Wow, amazing story. Her brain cognition must be that of an infant. Nice to hear that her family is so loving and supportive!

It would be great to find out the story why she stopped aging. If we can stop aging at 21yo and go through life learning through trials and tribulations but the body remaining at 21yo wouldn't that be great!

I saw this on TLC and found it sad. The parents were asked what would happen to Brooke if they both died and they said their other daughters would step in and care for her. Heartbreaking for everyone involved, I'm sure.
