Default Teacher Gives Sex Tape to 5th Graders
Quote:
A local teacher accidentally put pornography into a DVD that was meant to be filled with school memories from the past year, and nobody caught the error until after it was sent home, shocking parents and students alike.

Parents of students who attend Isabelle Jackson Elementary said that the woman is a good teacher, but just made a mistake that may become the most embarrassing moment of their life.

The offending DVD starts with a menu screen that displays various school trips and functions, and when you click on one of them, you see kids in a classroom sharing stories. They start clapping, then the video suddenly cuts to sex.

"It goes from my son, straight to her on the couch," said 'Joe,' who saw the video along with his son and did not wish to be identified. "My son's reaction was, 'Dad, is that Ms. Defanti?'"

"We were up till midnight doing the 'birds and the bees,'" he added.

The person in the video turned out to be Isabelle Jackson Elementary fifth grade teacher Crystal Defanti.

"All she could say was that it was a horrible mix up," Joe said.

The teacher called his home the day after his child got the DVD, crying hysterically, profusely apologizing and asking the man and his wife to call every parent they knew to stop their kids from seeing the DVD too.

The Elk Grove Unified School District says they are investigating, but legal experts say it's unlikely that the teacher will lose her job.

"It's felony stupid, but it's not a crime," said defense expert Ken Rosenfeld. "Is it something that she should be disciplined for? Absolutely, but fired for? She didn't intend for this to happen."

Joe doesn't care if the teacher keeps her job, he'd just like some help from the school.

"Maybe offer some sort of counseling for my children, ask me how my children are doing," he said. "I want somebody to ask me the kind of questions my kids are asking me."

School officials say a new DVD will be sent to students once it has been reviewed.

Oh, wow, imagine how embarassing that would be! But that's still a careless mistake. Didn't she proof read the video? Or atleast watching it before making copies and distributing?

I cannot imagine a teacher being that careless. Really, how does porn - of the teacher herself, no less! - end up ACCIDENTALLY on a disc of student memories? First, I've compiled discs of photos and video clips, and there is just no way I could have mixed up something like that. Second, it is the teacher's responsibility to watch the video in full before distributing it, if for no other reason than to make sure that it flowed smoothly from one segment to the next and that the audio matched the images.

And while there may be no technical grounds to fire her, communities have had their panties in a wad over school teachers or aids having been in pornography in the past. Sometimes community outrage is enough to force a teacher out, even if they cannot legally fire her. If I lived in that community, I'm not sure I'd be sad to see her go. If she was that negligent given a project for the class, I'm not sure I'd trust her being thorough in other areas, including teaching, grading, safety on field trips, previewing any movies or videos shown in the classroom, etc.

I just have a hard time with the "poor teacher" sentiment. She didn't have anything happen to her; she did it to herself. First, she made a sex tape and had it on her computer - apparently in a benign enough spot that it would get mixed up with videos and photos of her students. Then she is careless enough to copy it onto the memory disc she was making. And then she failed to preview the disc to make sure all the images came out properly. There is no "poor teacher" here. Just a woman who was reckless and careless and couldn't make the time to do a project properly. I don't have a lot of sympathy.

OMG I can't imagine what she must have felt the moment she realized her mistake.

Be careful with your sex tapes people!

Wow. I can't imagine her wanting to stay at that school after this. The kids will be looking at her kinda funny.

Seriously, how careless was that & I agree why would she want to stay? She will be the butt end of jokes forever! I would SO NOT be amused if my kids came home with that! Would it have been a huge task to use a new blank DVD?

I always thought the problem with making a sex tape was not bothering to retain custody of said tape for fear it might be released.

This is just a whole other cautionary tale for those wanting to capture those "magic moments" on tape.

I agree. And if she is so careless to allow a mistake like that maybe she is too careless to teach.
