BTW, the name of the truck driver who was beaten was Reginald Denny. I was close.

The Only time I've ever served jury duty (well, one day of it anyway) I was called to the federal courhouse downtown with about 100 other people for the Rodney King jury selection. I didn't know it until I got there though. I just knew it was a federal case. The prosecutions lawyers came through (but weren't famous to me yet). My car broke down on the way home and I didn't go back... but I was pretty kooky looking back then so I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have picked me anyway

I also agree. he is really good looking!

Oh, I agree IntlSet, I mean, he was high on drugs when arrested in 1991, but, did that mean he deserved to be beaten? The tape of the beating just proved what people had been saying all along, the LA cops were a little TOO aggressive when it came to subduing suspects.

I'm not getting into any other discussion of the madness of that time in LA except to agree with Jahpson- it's better to stay home to get drunk.

Speedy, I notice that you seem to read into my posts than is really said. Please don't put words into my mouth or begin addressing issues in response to my post that I didn't even bring up.

To imply that I think he deserved a beating because I agreed with Nirodha that this event is unsurprising since he's been in and out of trouble ever since his initial infamy is ridiculous. I certainly do not believe he deserved to be beaten, please do not imply that I do. I have also said nothing about the aggression of LA cops and I have said nothing about whether or not he deserved to be beaten. When you bring up totally unrelated points I've never addressed in my post, it appears that it's because you already made assumptions about what you suppose I think when I have never outright said anything except "My thoughts exactly" in response to Nirodha. Nobody in this thread has even hinted that he deserved the treatment he received at the hands of the LAPD.

Nobody seems interested in initating that discussion, thank goodness. I don't think any of us think he deserved that... it was exactly as you put it: madness!

I didn't mean to make it sound like you meant he deserved to be beaten, and I am sorry if it sounded that way. It was more of a rhetorical question for the whole board, not aimed at something you said. I apologize and will be more careful in the future, I seriously didn't mean to make anyone think you meant he deserved it. NO-ONE deserves that kind of treatement.

Problem with the written word is you can't see the emotions and lilts in someone's voice. My mistake was prefixing the statement with your name, I was agreeing with you that he wasn't the best citizen, then I threw the question out as a ponder. Again, I am sorry.
