With all of the rumors going around that employers find this sort of info and make a decision whether or not to hire you, I'd be AFRAID to post something about that regarding my current job! I wouldn't want to go on a job interview and a potential new employer seeing it and basing his or her opinion on that!

This is so minor... an apology and a slap on the wrists would have sufficed. The comment doesn't seem like such a big deal to me, and everyone says things like that. He made a mistake, but it doesn't seem like worth losing a job over.

I think the lesson learned is that unless you own your own business you should never post anything related to your job on FB, Twitter, or Myspace because you have no idea how it will be interpreted by your employer or anyone else.

While I do think it is harsh, his employer was known to be invasive and they are probably taking a proactive stance in deterring any future work-related postings.

I know what he meant, but you can't arrest people for being stupid - and the fact that he's in a position to do so is sort of scary.

I think the officer was joking! I can't believe he quit his job over this. You hear of policeman beating people and they are assigned desk jobs with pay. The fact that he was facing any type of disiplinary action is ridiculous! There is a law against stupid people ... it's called negligence or ignorance of the law.

Yep. This should be a no-brainer.

Default Police Officer resigns......
What is this world coming to? whatever happened to "Freedom of Speech", he is entitled to his opinion. I'll defend to the death his right to speak, but I don't have to agree to it......
