Might be in the minority here, I don't have (and never had) myspace/facebook/whatever, but I'm glad he was fired. I think somebody who doesn't see what's wrong in saying that, even if you think it, has issues. I think it was only a matter of time before he probably abused a criminal or someone who was innocent. Even if he never did/does in his career, anyone who hires him (I doubt he'll get hired again) will always second guess him when he brings someone in. Having that potential on a police force is just a waste of time and money.

I made a thread about sharing personal/private info online and I think the majority kinda brushed it off and said they don't care who reads their info. I wonder if things like this change people's opinion about being annoymous online and sharing too much info.

Wow, I wonder if he was given the option to resign, before they fired him?

I think you are jumping to conclusions here. Granted he prolly shouldn't have posted this partcular sentiment on his FB page but let's face it---who HASN'T had a similar thought at least once in their career? I am very good at my job and my patients love me but sometimes I have to wonder how some of these people ever survived to adulthood. I just wonder TO MYSELF instead of broadcasting to the general public my every less-than-charitable thought born out of frustration, being overworked, whatever. And I assure you, I may have the occassional inappropriate thought but I would NEVER decide to go all Kervorkian on my patients.

He did resign in lieu of disciplinary action.

This is just me assuming, but I think if he put this on facebook where everyone could see it, then he must have felt strongly about it. When someone in a service industry feels so much contempt, you do have to look at them different. Just read everything after what you high lighted. Even I myself said if he doesn't actually do anything, every time he arrests someone people are going to be wondering "Did he arrest them because they were guilty or because they annoyed him?". You can't have police officers who you can't trust. That's why as I basically was saying, there's a reason why you don't say these things, even if you may think them. IMO, it shows lack of self control and makes your coworks look at you differently. I mean, a person, even a stupid one, thinks at least a 100 different thoughts a day. Part of being an adult is knowing when to say something you think and knowing when you should keep it to yourself.

Wow I missed where you posted that. I don't know how I would feel about that. That seems a bit invasive.

And while I guess the comment could be seen as showing a willingness to abuse power, I don't really agree entirely with that. I think I have made a similar comment in the past after seeing someone do something I thought was beyond stupid or crazy. Seems like they are going overboard in my opinion.
