Default Police caught on video beating a 15 year old girl -graphic
Normally I like to give the benefit of the doubt as much as possible - but after I watched to video...WOW. Unbelievable!!

Link to the video:

Full story:
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/..._schene28.html

A video showing a King County Sheriff's deputy pummeling a 15-year-old girl in a holding cell was released Friday over the strenuous objections of the officer's attorney.

The case goes beyond police misconduct, County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said in a prepared statement.

"It's about criminal misconduct. And that's why he needs to be prosecuted," he said.

The video of the Nov. 29 incident was disclosed Friday, one day after Deputy Paul Schene, 31, pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault in King County District Court.

Schene, an eight-year veteran, works out of Precinct 4, which covers SeaTac, Burien and high crime areas in White Center and Skyway.

He is the third sheriff's deputy since 2006 to face charges on allegations of excessive force. All three are from the Burien precinct.

A detective assigned to the girl's case discovered the video Dec. 1 and immediately forwarded it to supervisors...

Hmmmm...that is BEYOND excessive! It's sad, but I'm not even shocked anymore when members of law enforcement do something uncalled for.

The news reported that the officer instructed her to remove her shoes. She slipper her first shoe off with her other foot and flipped it out of the door, apparently hitting the officer in the knee. The video shows her starting to slip the other shoe off when he tackles her - the story is that he said that the shoe hitting him was an assault on an officer.

To me it does NOT look like she intended for her shoe to hit him - no aiming. I flip my shoes off like that all the time, and they land in a different spot every time. I could hit something like that even if I tried, so I highly doubt it was intentional.

On the video:

1. He rushes her and throws her against the wall
2. He throws her on the floor by her hair, then kneels on her back
3. He handles her very roughly while cuffing her
4. He then proceeds to punch her in the back of the head TWICE (or maybe on her face if her head was turned far enough - you can't tell from the video)
5. He yanks her up BY THE HAIR and drags her out of the room.

I get that she was in there for a reason, but that in no way excuses his behaviour.

I'm absolutely shocked by the behavior...UGH. There was another officer present as well, but it does not look as though he did anything wrong other than stopping/not reporting the incident.

For a second I thought the girl had passed out! What in the world would prompt the cop to do that??!! She flipped off her shoe and hit him in the knee, so he thought by slamming her into the wall, knocking her down, punching her and then dragging her by the hair to stand up was an acceptable response??!!!!!!

I'm sure there's lots more of that going on. Not necessarily cops beating up 15 year old girls. But cops robbing people's homes, pummeling other people, etc. The former happened to my friend.

I saw this on the news the other day and I was shocked and disgusted. I really hope the deputy will serve some jail time.

This is big news around here. The cop involved allegedly has a history of other violent incidents while on the job...

WOW! I really hope they throw the book at him. What a piece of garbage. Some cops think the badge gives them the right to do whatever they want. What excuse could he possibly have for that behavior??? That is a young girl that is unarmed and in a holding cell. Is she really a threat to him??? She hit him with her shoe by accident?? You can't be a cop if you have a fuse that short.

Roo, thanks for adding "graphic" to the title if you're the one who did it...I didn't even think to warn anybody!

It amazes me how often this happens and the police think that they can get away with it....they seem to show no regard that they are being recorded and they always have some excuse for their use of force in reacting to something that a person has allegedly committed. Some members of the police force think that they are above the law and the rotten ones need to be weeded out.

Whoa, after watching the video I'm shocked at the violence!

Anger management anyone? And his partner just sits and stares, never intervening even though it's clearly over the top.

The police even comes back into the room after dragging her by the hair (like a neanderthal) to check if he made a dent into the wall. That man has serious issues with abusing his authority. No one should respect a cop like that!
