Or even shamu! How dare Alaska Airlines exploit fish! I still fly them though. The employees are nice and I won't pay an extra 500.00 to make three stopovers when they go nonstop.

the thing with Southwest has always been that humor rules the day which of course, I love. everything they do is tongue and cheek and the flight attendants are encouraged to keep things light and funny. it eases the stress level of passengers. even at their conventions, employees have a talent contest and creativity is highly encouraged. at least it used to be.
I love that airline. The humor of having a swimsuit model on the plane like Shamu is not lost on me... |

Ohhh how right on this is! They are the same people Liberté, who cry out in shock when their children see a French billboard or commercial for body products that show a bare breast and yet will let their children play violent games on the GameBoy What they also don't realize is that their kids have likely seen that breast and worse while they were surfing unsupervised on the 'net.

I can't manage to dope out your last sentence, the one I bolded. Please don't be offended, but I have no clue what you're trying to say.

its just a girl in a bathing suit...besides the fact that it isnt even a campaign for them, its just selling ad space...would you boycott a ride on a public bus that had that plastered on the side? |

That's soft porn?
![]() In what century? The 19th? I hope if they ever, accidentally, get sent a VS catalogue through the mail, they have their smelling salts close at hand. ![]() I appreciate that the magazine it's selling is a little more risqué, but still. |

And while I'm all for people being able to choose freely how you want to spend your money, I wouldn't see this as sexist from my location in the world. However I'm not directly parttaking in your society so it would be hard for me to know how it comes off over there. Here I see as many "Uncovered" bodies in ads of the male and female kind for the exact same purposes. Also it depends on the context the body is presented as a part of the advertizing. My country of origin has strict rules on how naked bodies and especially female can be presented in ads. It's covered by laws for preserving and promoting equality of genders and to counter streotypes in all areas of advertizing, not just to censure nudity. However, experience shows that these laws do not work because they mostly rely upon what people report, which results in censorship that is mostly directd towards naked bodies no matter if they are presentd as art or are dirctly related to the product, and not ads that are renforcing and exploiting old sexists stereotypes like "mother is in the kitchen filing her nails waiting for the electrician (who's always a guy)" or "It's hopeless to go shopping with my husband for a new table because all he can think of is how it supports beer cans and table tennis". IMO These are images that limits people's choices, whether subconsciously or not more than the casual boob or buttock here and there because it's somthing we see and respond to every day. To hide women does not encourage equality, equality in this case is something that enables and gives the freedom of choice no matter what gender a person has. Where I live now I see much more nudity in ads than I did before, but I see much less sexist messages in adevertizing in general. This is the perspective from which I post my point of view in this case.
