It's a bit excessive to call it porn and to be THAT offended...I mean it's just a bathing suit. But I do think it's a little bit tacky!! People will plaster advertisements all over just about anything these days!

so basically southwest is pretty genus to go thru with this...

1) work deal with SI for their best selling issue --> brings attention to the airline
2) bikini clad airplane draws attention at airports --> brings attention to the airline
3) (overly sensative) people protest --> bring even more attention to the airline
4) even more people discuss virally throughout the web --> brings even more attention to the airline (and numbers 1-3)

good job marketing & pr dept of southwest

SW just wants to be different which is fine. They havent crossed the lines of morality. LOL They're also creative with their safety demo and are allowed to sing, dance, wear shorts. It may not be for everyone, but most people love their fun atmosphere, while some complain that it's inappropriate and makes them feel unsafe ( not sure why that is???). There will be people out there that will complain and exaggerate everything.

Don't see what the big deal is honestly. Children seeing this will not be thinking of sex! They will see a bathing suit, they think of the beach and playing in the sand and water. People need to relax.

All attention isn't always good, and just because people are paying attention to the airline doesn't mean that people are going to want to fly with them. Someone like me would NOT buy a ticket from them for this very reason. And since others are protesting, I'm sure they feel the same way. So while they're getting their attention, they'd best realize it won't all be for the better!

Bikinis are very common and they were just making a big deal out of nothing. Some people just like to over react and make a scene.

I think that it's a little sexist and doesn't send a great message to young girls. Southwest needs to have a half-naked MAN plane! Alternatively, they could honor a smart and accomplished person by putting his/her face on a plane, not just a model.

I would like to see that...there would be no complaints from me if it was a cute, buff guy!

Oh please. Everyone knows that all of these "outraged" passengers are going to be flying Southwest if they're the cheaper airline. People care about cost, not what the outside of a Boeing looks like.

It's more than a little sexist, if you ask me. The shame is, although this doesn't send a good message to little girls, most adult women can't even reconize or acknowledge how bad it is, since many of them have been so conditioned to accept blatant sexism in society. A lot of women can't distinguish sexism/the objectification of women from the man in the moon.

This would only be fair and balanced if there was a scantily clad man on the other side, as you suggested. I mean, what's good for the goose...

I love the language of this article. Passengers are being FORCED, huh? Really? Was it at gunpoint?

The media treats complaining as if it were 'news', because it gets everyone's attention, and helps to sell advertising.

Our local 'newspaper' (cough cough) recently had an article about a 'protest' that consisted of a group of under 20 people complaining about the expenditures of the local SPCA. That's right, in SF all you have to do is grab a few friends, run downtown, make some noise in front of a building, and you are bestowed with the glamourous title of 'protester' and you are 'news'.

If we ignored it, they wouldn't continue to 'report' it. I'm so tired of every group of offended whiners being treated as 'news'.

Soft porn? This guy obviously has not seen soft porn before. A girl in a bikini plastered on the side of a plane. That's it - really? Who cares. Everybody has their idea of what is considered offensive. I don't think this is right or wrong - it just is. So much more to complain about in this world than this!!!

Sorry but when you're inside the plane you don't see the outside.

And (thankfully) it's still a free economy and consumers are welcome to vote their choices with their feet. Fly United or Delta or JetBlue instead if they don't like the SWA paint job

I'm sure these are the same people that wouldn't take their kids to the louvre because there are naked people with penises there. Or if they do and don't realise their hypocracy, maybe it's even worse.

Caxe; ALtrnativley, hy don't put a person known for their wits half naked on the plane? ^_^
