How incredibly sad. Those poor parents. They'd been through so much already.

It's a good reminder to me to catch up on vaccines. My son is a few months younger and we'd fallen way behind, so I just went in this week for a shot for him. The pneumococcal vaccine was the one that my pediatrician feels most strongly about, since it's the one she's lost kids to. I made sure we're up to date on that one and on HiB, even if we're behind on some others.
