I couldn't bear to watch the video, but I clicked on the link for the article and saw a still.

I hope the owner of the dog or the person that videotaped it showed the video to the police.

judging from the comments, I guess we can agree that she deserves a spanking?

I couldn't bring myself to watch the video but based on the text, I find it appalling. I am surprised the dog owner didn't file charges even if she is 12. She could be sent to a juvenile detention center. Technically, I feel like he should file charges so she learns her lesson. Regardless of whether or not she has issues in school or the family, that is no excuse to take it out on another living being. Her parents are going to have alot of work to do on her. I feel like just grounding her isn't enough. Even 5 yr olds in my area who pet my dog are careful not to cause any harm to her.

I didn't watch the video either, just couldn't. Lots of people have problems or are overweight but that doesn't lead us to beating helpless animals or children. There's no excuse for brutality.

I don't know if answering violence with violence is the answer or not. Sometimes superior force is all that makes an impression and sometimes force is necessary to get the attention. But usually there are other, more effective, ways to manage a violent situation. I just don't know what that would be in this situation.

That said, I'll hold her down while any of you beat her up.

ITA! *Many* children that abuse animals become more violent monsters later in life. By monsters, I mean murderers, rapists, or some other sick idiot that gets his/her jollys off of arson or something similar. Whatever the underlying issue is, she definitely needs some type of professional help. A grounding is for punishment doesn't suffice for this type of disturbing behavior. That's probably why she is the way that she is. The parents are way too lenient when it comes to proper punishment.

Who knows why the guy filmed so long. Maybe he is disabled like the dog's owner, and is aware of what 12 year olds are capable of these days, especially an abusive psycho like this kid. I'm not justifying it, just looking at a possible explanation. The criminal is this nasty kid. Thank God it was filmed...a good number wouldnt have cared or done anything. I could see this happening again, then the dog finally decides to defend himself by biting her, then gets euthanized because their little gentle, animal loving angel got attacked by the big vicious dog. She should get more than a grounding. That's nothing. She needs to be analyzed by a psychologist before it progresses.

ITA for everything you said.

And maybe it is good for her and her parents as she caught earlier as this kind of behavior can be developed to more serious violence or crime later.

I had to stop it in the middle. I just can't handle this kind of stuff. That girl is crazy, and needs to see a phyciatrist if THIS is how she gets her feelings out!

If she is torturing animals at the age of 12, just imagine what she will do to her own offspring when she is old enough to reproduce.

I cannot believe that her parents said that they were going to "ground" her, that child needs to be locked up in a secure ward and undergo some very intense therapy.

As well as being spayed and NEVER EVER being allowed around anyone or anything smaller or weaker than her.

I can't bring myself to watch the video, but it sounds horrendous. She obviously has problems for whatever reason and she obviously needs help in order to find out why on earth she did what she did.

However, I find it very uncomfortable to read some of the comments here especially with regards to calling her a 'bi*ch' and that she deserves 'her ass kicked' - she may have been brutal, but I don't feel that she, a 12-year old girl, 'deserves' some of the stuff being suggested here (especially regarding physical violence towards her, I'm hoping a lot of it was just a turn of phrase used to voice disgust at her actions rather than actually getting the pitchforks out kind of thing).

I realize that her behaviour was extreme to say the least. She obviously needs help and it should be given to her.
