^As much as I think the guy deserved to be punished, I think the sentence is too harsh especially considering that rape and murder criminals hardly get to see past a decade behind bars.

Oh boy, I am so sorry for the Meiers. I do hope though, this case causes for new legislation to be made concerning cyber bullying.

I saw this and I wonder if it's a troll. No one can be that stupid, but maybe Lori Drew is.

That briefly crossed my mind, too, but actually, I think she could be that stupid...

this just so so awful... this is why I am not allowing my daughter to have myspace........I can not keep up with every thing....
the fact that they were able to make up a profile and fake name and gain access to this childs friendship circle is enough..

I have serious doubts about whether that blog belongs to Lori Drew. The comments are unmoderated and wide open. I think it's probably a troll.

Ooff, yeah, I'm sorry. I don't want to validate that blog as a genuine thing because I have no idea. My apologies, I don't mean to pass it off as such. I just found it vile all around, no matter who made it.

troll or not its sick and i posted a comment right back to it

i wouldnt be surprised if it is actually the mother tho,,,, i mean she created a myspace acct to fool people shes clearly got some serious issues that she thinks its ok for her to do something a silly 16 year old might do, and still she is justified in what she did?
id unno it seems like the cyberworld is one where she feels she cn really reach out and make some sort of statements to others,,, so part of me feels like it might be her? i dunno i just hope she reads other peopples comments if nothing else even if it is a troll, cause she willl see of all the ppl reading that blog no one agrees with what she did
here was my response to that blog:

you sick sick human being it clear by the title of your blog "Megan had it coming" that you are cold hearted and sick. Everything you did was sick, you much have had a very messed up childhood for you to stoop to that level, of a 16 year old playing games on myspace and create a profile there-that should have set off lights with people around you that you were a psycho.
There are a few things you say in your blog which i find especially troubling:
then it occured to me, what if Megan ended her life after what happened on MySpace? It seemed ridiculous. When kids were bullied, they went to their rooms and cried -- even the depressed ones. They didn't hang themselves.
really?! are you some sort of all knowing higher power, do you KNOW thats what everyone does, is everyone just supposed to cry and get over it? do you have ANY concept of what severe drepression is you stupid stupid woman you are a grown adult and didnt know that for some people bullying runs deep?
then you go on to say
her parents showed their dark side and scared the holy hell out of me when they dumped our smashed foosball table on our driveway. Instantly I knew we were dealing with unbalanced people. Aggravated by their child's death and their own culture of anxiety, I very much feared for my family
you knew you were dealing with unbalanced people!?!!? Because of your stupid bullS#$# on myspace their daughter hung herself, court ruling or not she was depressed and what you saw as teaching her a lesson pushed her over the edge and you think her parents are unbalanced?! you make me sick you should be committed
and finally
for months we had been dealing with a family that didn't want to listen to our side of the story and only called for us to "be gone." Like I said, my sympathy has limits.

your sympathy has limits?? cause they didnt listen to you your sympathy has limits, even though their daughter is dead? what if your daughter was dead you stupid B#*$#($@ how would you feel? I dont wish death upon anyone but one day karma will teach you a lesson you are an absolute psycho i feel TERRIBLE for your daugher
she has a SICK example of what a human being should be and i actually feel sorry for her because with you as a mother there is no hope that the girl will ever be normal
people will resent her forever for this and dammit you all deserve every last drop of torture you get from everyone around you
move out of that town leave those poor people to mourn in peace without the sick reminder that you are there, you dont deserve anyone to take your side and i hope you get run out of town
when your daughter gets the crap beaten out of her 1 day for this i hope you remember all the sick things you have to say about this girl dying
R.I.P. Megan you did NOT have this coming !!!! YOU DID NOT NO ONE DESERVES TO DIE

Their lawn has been damaged, the businesses they advertised for have cancelled their accounts, calls at all times of the day and night, death threats, etc, etc. Mrs. Drew surely didn't think this thing through.

But what saddens me is their own 13 year old child. She doesn't deserve any of this, she was guided by supposedly grown adults for her part in this.

my goodness, what a mess!

No problem at all, it was bound to come up. I saw it yesterday but decided not to post about it. If indeed it is a troll, then it sure is telling in terms of the public backlash against Lori Drew.

According to a CNN article, Lori Drew is now saying that an employee of hers was the one who sent all the mean comments from the "Josh" account to Megan:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/wayof....ap/index.html

"A teenage employee of Drew's named Ashley said she created the "Josh" account on MySpace after a brainstorming session with Drew and her daughter, according to a prosecutor's report. Drew said the girls approached her with the idea, and she told them only to send polite messages to Megan.

Ashley sent Megan many of the messages from "Josh," and Lori Drew was aware of them, prosecutors said.

On October 16, 2006, there was a heated online exchange between Megan and Ashley, who was posing as Josh. A few other MySpace users joined in, calling Megan names. It ended when "Josh" said the world would be better off without Megan.

Tina Meier said her daughter went to her room, crying and upset. About 20 minutes later, Megan was found hanging from a belt tied around her neck.

Drew's attorney Jim Briscoe said on NBC on Tuesday that Drew "absolutely, 100 percent" had nothing to do with the negative comments posted online about Megan and wasn't aware of them until after the girl took her life."
