This is so sad. What those people did is truly sickening.

I was about to say the same thing..I'm just glad you guys found out what was up. I also agree with Hubba I think myspace should charge a fee to have an account on their website.

Ok, I feel compelled to put my 2 cents in. First of all, I am the mom of 2 grown children that are happy and well-adjusted.
Here are my thoughts:
You cannot control your children - they are individuals
You can offer support, guidance, unconditional love and they still make the wrong decisions.
There are no right or left turns in life, only forks in the road and you can only try and guide your children, as you can't make decisions for them.
You absolutely can not stand over their shoulder 24/7. They have to have free will and be able to learn from their mistakes.

The Meiers did monitor the internet use, but that said, the only way to isolate your children is not to have a computer, send them to schools without and don't let them go to friend's that own computers. Its really just
impossible!!
I do not place any blame on Myspace, I do however place complete blame on the adults that harassed this girl. They should absolutely be held legally responsible. What they did was no different than stalking and there are laws against that.

What I find the most appalling, is the apparent nonchalance from the adult harrasser. I respect the Meiers for not giving the name, as I probably would just to make their life miserable.

I stopped reading because I really don't like the way this was written but it's just really sad. It's so sickening that adults can stoop down to such levels, it's kind of pathetic and not only should they be ashamed of themselves because she ended her life but just because they should be more mature than creating fake myspaces to pick on little girls.

When I was a kid there was no MySpace, but I got picked on horribly by kids in my class. It's f-ed up enough when people your own age do something so cruel, but for an adult to do it is horrible and evil beyond words.

Sorry, I can't seem to cut and paste from this site but please click here to read Lori Drew's police report: http://jezebel.com/gossip/public-doc...rds-325026.php

Here is the actual excerpt from IntlSet's link:

"Drew felt this incident contributed to Megan's suicide, but she did not feel "as guilty" because at the funeral she found out "Megan had tried to commit suicide before." Drew explained the neighborhood has recently found out her involvement in Megan's suicide and her neighbors have become hostile toward her and her family. Despite the recency of the suicide and several neighbors recommending she not confront the Meier family (especially on Thanksgiving), Meier stated she and her husband attempted to contact the Meier family three times, "banging on the door" although Mr. Meier had already told them to leave. Drew wished the current tension in the neighborhood be documented in case any of her property is damaged. Further, Drew insisted on contacting the Meier family to "inform them of what she knows." Drew stated she "just needed" to tell them to relieve herself of the "responsibility" and apparent guilt."

I have to repeat this bit:

"Despite the recency of the suicide and several neighbors recommending she not confront the Meier family (especially on Thanksgiving), Meier stated she and her husband attempted to contact the Meier family three times, "banging on the door" although Mr. Meier had already told them to leave."

Words fail me...

The name of the temporary employee who also had the password and also wrote messages to Megan has been posted on the 'Net. Seems Lori and her husband are/were members of the local Chamber Of Commerce, although from what I've been reading, this may change soon.

Not only did they cause the pain we know about here, but they also have injured themselves and thier own child by these actions. I wonder if now she still thinks it was worth it? Not only is she reviled in the US, but her child, husband, business, family, et all, are also suffering. So much for an adult making god choices.

I heard about this a couple days ago and sent it to my mother. It's sickening. You'd expect this kind of behavior from kids her age, not adults.

And these adults KNEW about her.

Actually, this story has made worldwide news. Friends from Austria heard about it and emailed me!

Oh, my Roo. I bet they wonder about us Americans now.

I still can't get past the woman (Drew) being in her late 40's. It's obvious to me she is very immature.

it was really hard reading through that whole article. it made me extremely saddened and i only wondered on how an ADULT would be able to do that? that is madness, and they pushed it way too far.
