I can barely get past this: "...belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality." *shakes head* so they picket funerals? That is SO SAD. Imagine being a family member...someone would get hurt! The religious crazies are always the worst! Ignorance of that magnitude should be punishable by death. "Thank God for dead soldiers" Sorry, I'm just reading as I go and it just keeps getting worse. :(

I was listening to Rain Man by Eminem at work today, and this song, especially these lyrics stuck with me, because they reminded me of this thread:

Now in the Bible it says
Thou shalt not watch two lesbians in bed,
Have homosexual sex
Unless of course you were given the consent to join in
Then of course, it's intercourse
And it's bi-sexual sex
Which isn't as bad, as long as you show some remorse for your actions
Either before, during or after peforming the act of that which
Is normally referred to have such, more commonly known phrases
That are more used by today's kids
In a more derogatory way but
Who's to say, what's fair to say, and what not to say?
Let's ask Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre? (What up?)
I gotta question if I may? (Yeah)
Is it gay to play Putt-Putt golf with a friend (Yeah)
And watch his butt-butt when he tees off? (Yeah)
But, but! I ain't done yet
In football the quarterback yells out hutt-hutt
While he reaches in another grown man's ***
Grabs on his nuts but just what if
It was never meant it was just an accident
But he tripped, fell, slipped and his penis went in
His teeny tiny little round hiney but he didn't mean it
But his little weenie flinched just a little bit
And I don't mean to go in into any more details but
What if he pictured it as a females butt?
Is that gay? I just need to clear things up
Til then i'll just walk around with a manly strut . . .

Good. I'm glad the father was awarded this money. Has anyone noticed that all the quotes are from the father/pastor and his biological daughters? Sounds like a cult to me.

Whether anyone agrees with the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, is neither here nor there when it comes to the soldiers fighting and dying for our fre***m. Homosexuality may be a very controversial topic (and we all have our opinions), but that has nothing to do with the soldiers who are so willingly and very bravely giving their lives everyday so we as a country might enjoy our fre***m and God given rights.

Those protesters ought to be ashamed of themselves and they ought to be begging for forgiveness from God and from the family of the fallen soldier. I guess they haven't mastered the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful for them to protest at a fallen soldier's funeral (who died so they could have rights and fre***ms) and absolutely disgusting that they call themselves Christians. They have added more emotional distress to the soldier's family. It is bad enough having your son or daughter shipped off to some foreign enemy territory fighting and then receives the worst news about their untimely death. The burial alone is enough to cause someone psychological distress, but to have some crazed "church" group come and protest, that hits a person to the core like no other. This soldier's family was trying to have a peaceful ceremony and that church had no right to take it from them.

I'm absolutely disgusted that these so called "Christians" could not have the decency to let the family bury their son in peace. The judge did not award enough money for the protest at this funeral. As for this church in particular, they need to disband immediately.

Those psychos are on 20/20 tonight. I'm still disturbed by seeing those kids saying those obscenities. It's just disgusting.

And I don't understand why they're so homophobic. Self-hating anyone? lol

I was almost afraid to open this thread, but I am greatly relieved by the opinions posted here. I find it especially disturbing that they have little children who don't even know what the word "***" (which I find to be a disgusting and demeaning term) means using it in every other sentence.

Like the song from South Pacific says:

"You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!"

I think these people are so sick. I'm fairly sure God doesn't hate any of his children, regardless of their sins. Do these people think they're perfect?

"He without sin, cast the first stone".

I'm especially disturbed to see kids picketing. I hope these children learn to open their minds and educate themselves as they grow older. Otherwise, they are going to bring this kind of nonsense to the future.

Picketing at a funeral is just absolutely rude and ridiculous to say the least, but being that this is demeaning the deceased at the time when they should be given respect, I would so take these a$$holes' signs and stab them with it.

As for this so-called 'church', burn that **** down.

Lol, I like that song. The beat is good and it's funny. But of course, I don't take him seriously.

^^ I think his point was that people can't say they're completely against homosexuality, that it's wrong, that it's a sin, etc . . . then turn around and do things like say that girl on girl action is hot or go on the D.L.

It doesn't work like that.

They go to every funeral in the US, I swear. We had a funeral here in no where, Nebraska a couple of months ago, and they send out these ridiculous flyers with times and locations. They are all the same. We didn't see them at the funeral, but when we were coming back in to town, their ratty ol' van was in front of us. I won't lie; I wanted to go by a dozen eggs and egg their van. Every bad word that I can't say here comes to mind.

My heart just breaks for our soldier's families, as well as for our son's and daughter's with certain sexual preferences. People are people for crying out loud, no matter what our choices. These *&#*))*^% have no respect for life, period.

I am realllllly pleased at the amount of money the family of this soldier recieved.

What I do not understand is, they say they are Christians. Uh. I'm not up on my Bible, but I remember my Momma sayin' God loves ALL His children, not just the straight, Christian, white ones.

Like someone said, that's not a Church, it's a cult! I just can't believe people can do this under the cover of "religion". I find them no different than the KKK.

The EXACT same psychos were protesting the trial of Matthew Shepard's killers!

But God bless people like these. THEY are the true Christians. There needs to be more people like these in the world:
(I saw the Laramie Project, and I didn't realize there was an actual Angel Action!)

Protesters push causes outside courthouse

Young people dressed as angels stood silently Monday outside the courthouse, trying to block from view a group of anti-gay demonstrators.
Inside the ring of a dozen angels organized by friends of Shepard, about a dozen anti-gay demonstrators from Kansas shouted slogans and waved signs, including one that said "God Hates ****."

"These ... creatures are sending this nation to hell in a handbasket," said the Rev. Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.

Phelps and members of his church picketed Shepard's funeral in Casper with anti-gay signs. They also demonstrated at a vigil in Alabama for Billy Jack Gaither, who may have been murdered because he was gay.

A handful of police officers formed a buffer zone between the two groups of demonstrators.

"I could no longer sit idly by and watch others bring forth messages that were nothing more than vindictive and hate-filled," said Romaine Patterson, 21, a friend of Shepard's who organized the angels' counterdemonstration.
"As a young person, I feel it is necessary to show the great nation that we live in that there doesn't need to be this kind of violence and hatred in our world," Patterson said.
