Ni los paramédicos del Cuerpo de Bomberos, ni los médicos del Instituto Hondureño de Seguridad Social (IHSS) se explican cómo Ajenor González Moreno, de 44 años de edad, aún se encuentra con vida.

El motorista de la empresa de buses interurbanos Tikamaya Express, que recorre la ruta entre Choloma y San Pedro Sula, llegó a la emergencia del Seguro Social con una rama clavada en la parte derecha del abdomen.

Los galenos se sorprendieron aún más cuando descubrieron que de la espalda baja del conductor salían dos pulgadas de la rama. “¡Dios santo, la rama lo atravesó completamente!”, expresaron, mientras observaban perplejos la calma en el rostro del paciente.

La rama tenía un grosor de cuatro pulgadas, la parte más ancha, 2.5 pulgadas la más delgada y medía poco más de un metro de largo.



PESADILLA

A las 6:30 de la mañana el bus número 07 de la empresa Tikamaya Express circulaba a una velocidad moderada por el Bulevar del Norte, rumbo a San Pedro Sula. En el vehículo se transportaban unas 25 personas.

A la altura del primer retorno después del peaje, en la colonia Fesitranh, una pesada rama de acacia cayó sobre la unidad en marcha, rompió el vidrio del parabrisas y luego se incrustó en el abdomen del conductor atravesándolo completamente.

Una patrulla que pasaba a esa hora por el lugar llegó a la subestación del Cuerpo de Bomberos, localizada 300 metros adelante de donde ocurrió el incidente, para solicitar la intervención de los paramédicos. El bombero Ricardo Avila y sus compañeros Kelvin Hernández y Manuel Leiva se desplazaron al lugar con una ambulancia para auxiliar a los heridos.


“Notamos que una rama grande salía de la cabina del conductor, pero no sospechábamos que estaba introducida en su abdomen. Cuando nos acercamos y vimos el estremecedor cuadro decidimos pedir apoyo a los vecinos, con equipo, para cortar parte de la rama”, explicó, tras lamentar que la institución no cuente con herramientas básicas para atender ese tipo de accidentes.

Los habitantes prestaron a los bomberos una segueta y así lograron achicar el tamaño de la rama. “Fue complicado porque no sabíamos las lesiones internas que tenía el paciente y las vibraciones de la segueta podían empeorar su salud. Todo se hizo con mucha paciencia”.

Los bomberos llevaron al conductor y los otros pasajeros lesionados al Seguro Social, donde fueron atendidos de urgencia. Para controlar el estado de conciencia del conductor, los bomberos le hacían preguntan simples como “¿cuál es su nombre?, ¿qué edad tiene?, ¿dónde vive?, ¿qué día es hoy?, para confirmar que sus respuestas fueran cuerdas.



SOSPRENDENTE

Amílcar Mejía, gerente de la Emergencia del IHSS, informó que inicialmente pensaron que la rama había desprendido de un tajo el apéndice y causado graves daños al intestino y posiblemente la vejiga del paciente.

“Unos 15 minutos después de recibirlo lo trasladamos al quirófano donde un equipo multidisciplinario de cirujanos especialistas y generales lo intervinieron durante unas seis horas.

Milagrosamente la rama no causó daños a ningún órgano interno, sólo al tejido blando (grasa y piel). Sin embargo sí rompió la cresta iliaca superior, que es un hueso de la pelvis, pero los cirujanos ortopedas lo operaron y por los momentos el paciente se encuentra estable, pero bajo estricta vigilancia”, detalló.

“Este caso es para Ripley, uno en 100 mil o quizá más que atendemos en esta emergencia por año”, comentó.

De no presentarse ninguna complicación post-operatoria, el paciente deberá permanecer varias semanas o posiblemente meses hospitalizado y posteriormente deberá recibir terapia física y de rehabilitación.



TESTIMONIOS

Irsa López Rodríguez, de 40 años, empleada de aseo de una maquila de Zip Río Blanco, relató a eso de las 6:30 de la mañana el bus circulaba a una velocidad moderada por el Bulevar del Norte, rumbo a San Pedro Sula.

“Yo venía sentada adelante, a la par del motorista, el bus iba pasando y de repente nos cayó el árbol encima. Los trozos de vidrio me causaron heridas en la cara, pero no son graves”, dijo la mujer, tras comentar que abordó la unidad en la colonia La Mora de Choloma.

La obrera manifestó que al principio creyó que empleados de alguna institución estaban cortando el árbol, pero cuando se bajó del bus notó que la rama se desprendió por sí sola.

Otra de las pasajeras que resultó lesionada fue Susana García, quien labora en el departamento de Protocolo de la municipalidad de Choloma. La joven contó que se dirigía precisamente al Seguro Social, a una cita médica, al momento del accidente.



LO ADVERTIMOS

El pasado 12 de junio, después de que un ventarrón provocara la caída de unos 60 árboles y causara la muerte de un obrero de la construcción y de un vendedor de hot-dog, Diario TIEMPO publicó un reportaje advirtiendo sobre la necesidad de cortar los árboles viejos de la ciudad.

TIEMPO entrevistó al doctor en fitopatología de la Fundación Hondureña de Investigación Agrícola (FHIA), José Melgar, quien manifestó que tanto los benjamines como las ceibas y las acacias no son árboles aconsejables para plantar en bulevares o zonas urbanísticas, rodeadas de casas y edificios.

Melgar confirmó que una buena cantidad de árboles de San Pedro Sula están viejos y debilitados, lo que pone en riesgo la integridad física de las personas y de los edificios que rodean.



PARQUES Y BULEVARES

Periodistas de Diario TIEMPO intentaron comunicarse vía telefónica para obtener la versión de Florencio Vallecillos, encargado de la oficina de Parques y Bulevares de la municipalidad, pero éste nunca contestó ni su teléfono celular ni el de la oficina.



NO ES UN ACCIDENTE

Según Oquelí Mejía Tinoco, jefe de la Sección de Investigación de Accidentes de Tránsito (SIAT), este suceso no se clasifica como accidente de tránsito sino como incidente porque fue provocado por condiciones externas en donde no hubo choques, responsables y tampoco fallas mecánicas.

“La oficina de Tránsito en este caso levanta únicamente un informe en caso de que los afectados reclamen indemnizaciones, ya que los dueños de las unidades son los responsables”, explicó Mejía Tinoco.
