Man...that was painful to watch. I think the message that should have been taken out of that interview is:

Don't get pregnant when you're a teen because you'll end up a dumb as this girl!
Kind of a chicken and egg thing. I think she was pretty stupid to begin with.

When I was 15 I did really embarrassing and stupid things. Glad this was not one of them.

Sigh.

I hate to say this, but it's a growing trend in my opinion; young people making decisions without thinking about the responsibility that goes with the decision.

These girls feel entitled to babies, so, by jove, they're going to have one if they want it! After the babies are born, they'll probably feel entitled to public assistance, free educations and all the perks taxpayer money can buy, since I'm sure they have no financial means to support themselves or their babies.

IT NEVER ENDS.

I commend all the hard working single moms out there... but the attitude conveyed by this story is just disturbing on so many levels.... and does such a disservice to women who have found themselves in this circumstance and have done their best to be good parents.

I dont think a homeless man would leap for joy to have a kid.
I wonder if she had to sleep with him more than once? Seems unlikely it was a one time thing and she was prego.

Um, actually, no, it won't! LOL Ask the parent of any teen out there.

As for these girls...this is just trifling; it's very sad. Their parents must be super-proud.
LOL I agree^

Sad and unfortunate for the babies, unless they have help for a very long time to come.

Unfortunately, celebrities like Jamie Lynn Spears have glorified teen pregnancy. Hey if Zoey 101 can have a baby...so can I! We didn't have those "idols" when I was a teenager. (Can you imagine? Marie Osmond...pregnant at 15!?.....ok now you all know I'm old) But these celebs have made pregnancy sound "cool". Sickens me. I feel sorry for the babies the most.

This is just my opinion of course, but I think that a day care, much less a free one, at the high school is not a good idea. Teen parents should have to learn their lesson and deal with their own consequences, if that means either staying home with the baby and taking care of it or paying to have someone else do that. My mom used to take care of teachers' children during the day, and I learned from the mothers that finding a day care wasn't easy... or cheap.

It sounds harsh, but that was sooo dumb of those girls.

I also think it's a little weird that they have pregnancy tests at the school. If you want one, go to a drugstore. Don't see if you are carrying a future human being while you are in school!

Oh my...a pregnancy pact??? Why couldn't they have gotten their hair dyed together or something like that?

I am so revolted by the role of the homeless man.

But wouldn't you be pretty harsh (at least at first) if your daughter came home really excited one day and said, "Mommy, I'm going to be a mommy! A hobo knocked me up and now I get a baby of my own! All my friends think I'm sooo cool..."
No problem! I absolutely agree that they made a big BIG BIG mistake. I'm just trying to say there is no reason to call the girls stupid or worse things. They don't know any better. And that is, because they obviously weren't taught/showed any better by their parents.

The article from the Times talks about the kind of community these girls live in: "Families are broken," says school superintendent Christopher Farmer. "Many of our young people are growing up directionless."

That just makes me feel incredibly sorry for them, because it is NOT their fault. Sure, they could have made a smarter decision than they did, but still... they are young and don't know any better.
