Default Girl Jumps to Death, Taunted as "Too Pretty"
Quote:
Girl kills herself by jumping off a bridge; taunted because she was 'too pretty'

BY Kate Nocera
DAILY NEWS WRITER

Cruel jealous schoolmates drove a 15-year-old girl to suicide because she was "too pretty."

Simone Grice fell to her death by jumping off a bridge onto to a highway in England, the Daily Mail reports.

Grice had been the target of constant bullying her mother, Linda, told the Daily Mail.

"They were always looking to beat her up. She became very emotional, very fragile,” she said. "She took her life because she was the victim of extreme bullying at school. She was always targeted and it was very intense.”

Grice’s mother said the school had attempted to help the girl but eventually the taunting became too much for her to handle and she began getting tutored at home.

It was apparently Grice’s beauty that made the other girls at school jealous.

"She was picked on because she was pretty,” said her mother. Her mother also told the mail that the bullies would throw stones at her and call her names. She had been particularly distraught the afternoon of her death and Mrs. Grice suspects her boyfriend broke up with her and that was "final straw.”

Grice’s body was found at the highway in Cornwall England, still clutching her favorite doll and her cell phone.

Two members of the public witnessed the event and police told the Daily Mail foul play is not suspected.

What a sad story. Bullying is such a serious problem, and kids/teens/etc. really need to realize that it's not cute, funny, or okay to do.

This is so sad and I feel bad for the girl's family.
Bullying victimizes so many young teens I think schools and local authorities should be much more pro-active in identifying such activities along with the appropriate consequences to the bullies. (sorry if my english is a little off.. is bullies correct?)

Probably not. It is likely that the parent or parents of bullies don't think their kids are bullies, so if the school were to contact them they would no doubt tell the school/teacher to bugger off. Teachers cannot control it because they are probably in fear for their own safety. Sadly, our society has let kids get away with acting in any fashion they wish because everyone is so scared of setting limits anymore.

oh, it happens. Kids bully each other for what someone has (looks, clothes & popularity), or has not. It sucks since school is suppost to be for learning.

May she RIP. the kids that did this to her should be ashamed of themself! I wonder how they sleep at night..

This is such a sad story. I don't think anything will be done until there are legal and financial consequences for bullies and their families.

What a tragic story, poor girl, poor family! I hope those bullies feel what they did for the rest of their lives!
