I see some comments on the News article that no one ever heard of a girl picked on for being "too pretty". A lot of people are surmising that this is just grieving mom talk-but I grew up with a beauty queen(she actually won some titles after we graduated from high school) who was bullied by some really mean girls because guys were noticing her too much and they felt she was conceited. This gal was gorgeous in a classy Angelina Jolie or Megan Fox way. So it does happen.

^^It's all about the bully, not the one being bullied. People who bully are doing so because there is something personal about themselves they dislike or are responding with.

Not to sound insensitive and I'm not looking to start a debate, but in both this and the MySpace case, there has to have been some issues with the person who is the sbject of the story as well. Bullying should not lead one to go to this exteme. You should be able to be strong enough to blow them off and ignore their attacks. It's all about self-esteem and peer pressure.

Not everyone is that strong though.

If she was being bullied so intensely why didn't the mother pull her out of school?

She was one of the not strong enough. Am I the only one who saw someone get bullied in school and see how badly it can hurt them to the core? I remember being in Jr. High and my friend (was a guy) was being picked on all the time and non the less by a girl! I got tired of it and beat her up and then I got suspended. It wasnt the right thing to do but she left him alone after that!

I read this on the Daily Mail, and it's so horrible, not only the bullying, but that the girl felt the only way to deal with her misery was to commit suicide. =[ I agree with what some of you are saying about her parents and why they didn't pull her out of school or transfer her. If it was causing her so much grief and the school officials weren't doing anything about it...

With all of that being said - I know I'm gonna get a lot of crap for this and people will think I'm being rude, but from looking at the photo of her... not sure why she would be bullied for being too pretty? She looks quite average to me.

I agree. I'm still mystified how a girl can be "too pretty".. when I was growing up, all the beautiful girls in school were lumped into one social group and inevitably became cheerleaders and on the dance team in high school. It seemed like all the pretty girls were in the popular group, so it's hard for me to imagine why anyone would bully a person for being too pretty... (unfortunately now, only a few of them remain as pretty as they were once revered to be).

Definitely. It's like - either you're regarded as gorgeous and hang out with all the other 'popular', bratty kids or you hang out with humble people who accept you for who you are. It blows my mind that she would become so desperate.
I can also understand if she was bullied because she was using her looks to model or something to that effect, but if she was just a normal girl, it makes no sense to me.
I'm kind of curious about her friends/people she hung out with, if she really was accepted at all. I feel as though the being 'too pretty' factor is only half of the story.

I dunno-even in college, if a girl was unusually beautiful and nice, inevitably some girls would pick on her. I guess it threatens some.

Some people may be thinking the same as you about her looks being average at best or just not that pretty but may not say it due to the fact that it is a mourning kind of thread or other strings of comments. I actually was very taken aback when I looked at her photo b/c I do think she's just okay-looking if anything, certainly not anywhere near the pretty girls in my schools (who, by the way, got along just fine with either a lot of friends or few friends depending on their personality and so forth).

That aside, I find it very hard to believe that someone, even very, very attractive, would be bullied by so many girls like this b/c of her looks alone. I mean I can understand and believe that some bullying my have happened but also see the popularity being a surpassing result of such beauty. Even then, most of the bullying would be bitchy comments behind the back and things like this. Now if the girl had been prancing around all mean-spirited or gave an air of cockiness, then that's a different story.
